As a father of young children, I have been rediscovering a lot of Disney movies, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
In this story, Snow White, fleeing from the evil queen. stumbles across a house and finds it in a mess. Discovering 7 small beds, she assumes the inhabitants of the house to children who are incapable of taking care of themselves. With the help of her animal friends, she cleans up the house and then pushes a few of the beds together so she can fall asleep.
The owners of the house, who are not children but full-grown dwarves, return home and realise that someone has been in their house. They find Snow White asleep in their beds and wake her.
All but one of the dwarves are instantly in awe of her. The one holdout is named Grumpy. Snow White has prepared a meal but insists they wash up before they eat. All but Grumpy happily comply even if most of them have no idea how. When they are done, they force Grumpy to comply by throwing him into the water trough.
After their meal, the dwarves perform a self-deprecating show for the entertainment of Show White then insist that Snow White take their room and beds for the night while they all find extremely uncomfortable places to sleep around the house.
The next morning, as they are heading back to the mines they work in, the dwarves queue up to declare their concern for and to receive a kiss on the forehead from Snow White. Even Grumpy has been won over by then, even if he struggles to admit it, and joins the queue.
As they are returning from their work, they are notified by Snow White’s animal friends that the evil queen has found her. They rush home to chase down and kill the queen but by then Snow White has already taken a bite from the poison apple and appears to them to be dead.
Luckily, they worship her so much that they don’t bury her. Instead they keep her in a glass coffin where they stand guard and maintain an elaborate floral display. That is, until Prince Charming finds her, kisses her and wakes her up. The two of them then live happily ever after.
Something troubled me as I rewatched this movie. The dwarves were happy before Snow White moved in. Yes, their home was a mess but they were comfortable living like that.
They were uncomfortable when they returned home and found what she had done. They were given no say in this new order imposed. They just had to accept it because this is how Snow White believed things should be done. When one of their own doesn’t get on board with the new order, they turn on him and force compliance.
They worship her both because she is a beautiful woman and because they have convinced themselves that the new order is better, craving the smallest gesture of affection. They put themselves in harm’s way to protect her. Of course none of them actually has a chance with her. A handsome normie shows up and she leaps into his arms.
This fits a pattern that we’ve all seen in real life with the feminist colonisation of mostly-male nerd spaces. I really do think that a lot of the feminist colonizers imagine themselves in the role of Snow White. The morally pure beautiful person who sweeps in and teaches these losers how to live properly and is adored for it. They get very upset, even claiming to be oppressed when someone contradicts this fantasy.
People (often women) from outside these spaces invite themselves in and, just like Snow White, rather than being humble and starting from the bottom, they expect their popularity outside of the space to grant them a position at the top and many of the nerds, themselves craving acceptance by the popular people give them exactly that.
These outsiders start imposing new rules based on what makes them comfortable, and what is trendy in their own spaces, without even attempting to understand the existing norms of the space. Why would they, the inhabitants of these spaces are children who don't know how to take care of themselves. Most just accept the new rules they allow themselves to be pushed into uncomfortable places to keep the outsider comfortable. Some of the nerds hold out like Grumpy and like Grumpy they are punished by the others.
The nerds become a personal army for the outsider, fighting the outsider’s battles (often verbal rather than physical) and hoping to be rewarded with the smallest show of affection so they can feel accepted by the popular people. She is happy to bask in their admiration and accept their gifts and subservience but she would never actually have any romantic interest in them. They don't even count as men to her. She’s waiting for her Prince Charming, one of her fellow popular people.
