It basically seems this is the narrative that is accepted nowadays to explain why girls are getting better grades in school and why there are more women in university. The general feeling these days is that girls are simply better students because they are more patient, more willing to sit and listen, more willing to do work, etc.

In my opinion, I just think it's a rather false conclusion. I think it's moreso the case that the modern school system is just designed for girls to succeed. For instance, teachers nowadays grade very heavily on ORGANIZATION. It is very common for teachers to require students to have a "binder" for the class, then at the end of the semester they collect the binder and grade them on how organized they are. Obviously girls are way better at this than boys, because most boys don't really care about this kind of organization. How important, really, is keeping 2 month-old papers and tests that you'll never look at again in a binder? It's a poor metric for learning and grading.

I just feel this narrative of "girls make better students" is just an artificial construct, I'm not even convinced it's true. I even think the common thought that "boys are more active and can't sit still" is inaccurate. When I was in school, I was very mellow and well behaved, and frankly, pretty smart, but I always felt like teachers were ready to pounce and get me in trouble when I made any kind of mistake or did anything wrong. Whereas it seems like they gave girls just way more slack and more encouragement. I'm not saying girls have it easy or they have everything handed to them, but I do feel like the modern school system was designed to make it much easier for them to succeed.
