Well we are helping a friend through a divorce, wife brought home a man in the house to have sex with him, but our friend was a accused of cheating by talking to a female colleague on the phone, about work stuff. Wife said, because of this her having sex was justified. Just saying, cheating means different things to different people. Yes, she filed for divorce.

It's one of the main reasons why "no fault divorce" got implemented. So I just looked it up on google. Typed “The overall rate men and women cheat on each other”

The first stat that pops up was posted this year. It pretty much follows male and female sexual strategy.

So from age 18-29 women cheat more…Their 11% to mens 10…they’re pretty much in their prime sexual agency here..

From 30-39 it flips. 14% of men cheat, as opposed to women still cheating at 11%…men have gained and learned more, and with the wall/hypergamy working “in their favor” (debatable) men end up with more options in this stage…

With marriage, more men cheat, with 20% being men and 13 women…my theory is “dead bedrooms” for men, while the women that cheat are just that cocky if you ask me…most understand that they can lose alimony if caught cheating, so they opt out that truth in the survey, OR just divorce him and do it after…though they were planning it before..

Oh and by the way, with all these stats listed, look at who’s shamed for cheating more…one is a “dirty, ain’t sh-t dog”, and the other is “Free to do with their body as they please, for they are liberated “

If you could ever determine the legitimacy of it so as to make a bet, the smart money would be on women cheating as much or more than men. The thing is that women are pretty much hard wired to not admit to these things unless caught red handed, so even studies with blind/anonymous results list honesty in self-reporting as a potential problem with their data.

The REASONS men and women cheat are very different, and depending on how you define "cheat" (i.e. emotional relationship vs. physical relationship; a one night stand of random opportunity vs. calculated and prolonged affair, etc.) the results could be weird. However, if you define everything in an objectively reasonable manner, nobody with any intelligence actually believes that men and women cheat at appreciably different rates.

My ex cheated on me. Like full make up, and everything. In my house that pay for. She justified it by saying that i work too much and she felt abandoned.

I sent a message to my best friend about my previous (literally gorgeous looking) ex-girlfriend marrying a guy that looks exactly just like me but about 4-5 inches shorter in height. I said that should i have been me.

Next thing you, know, i’m accused of cheating. A whole week of arguing and fighting. And next thing you know, i’m served with the divorce papers among other legal things i’m dealing with.

On a first (and last) date with a woman a few years back she introduced me to one of her friends who was, that very night, out with another guy, running around behind her husband's back while he was out of town. I had to sit through that evening and imagine dating this woman, a woman who casually accepted this situation as acceptable.

Women lie. Then when they're done lying, they go home and lie to themselves until they believe that lie. Then they get on social media and troll for sympathy so that they can convince themselves that it was ok to lie.

When a man cheats, he knows he's done something bad. When a woman cheats, she invents 1000 reasons to justify it "in this special case right here". That's very important: She has to be important and special in this scenario, which is of course a unique and unprecedented situation that's and completely different from that of all other women who normally cheat.

Cheaters are delusional, self-centered and they're not worth your time.

I'm not sure self reporting is a good metric for any study done on women. Many do not admit the truth. Heck so many have told me something like "I'm not a prostitute but if you pay me we can have sex" that I've stopped taking their words at face value.

Well, I'm on r/pornfree and r/nofap so I've had the (mis)fortune of interacting with female "SO"s who have decided that their husband looking at porn = cheating. So, I guess if you define it that way you can get to 90% of men (and probably a majority of women, too, but not once have I encountered a man who equates his wife or girlfriend looking at porn to cheating).

Here is my explanation for why most divorces are initiated by women. It's just a theory that has tried to fit the data.

Women find most men below average in attractiveness. This is mostly from the famous OkCupid data. Most won't be able to get a man they're very sexually attracted to. So they'll settle for one their barely attracted to. Studies have shown men tend to mellow a bit after marriage, lowering their attractiveness a bit.

One thing I read theorized that it's hard for men to understand because for us, our threshold for being willing to sleep with a woman (morals aside) is lower than for marrying one. For women it's reversed. Their bar for being freely and passionately sexual with a man is higher than it is to marry one.

Marriage has become lower risk for woman than it was before, so it encourages them further to roll the dice and take a chance on a guy they're barely attracted to.

Guys might want to divorce, but the price is too steep, so they're more willing to stick through it even if their unhappy.

All together, I think that offers a reasonable explanation for the ~80% of divorces being initiated by women.

The rate of cheating is about equal for men and women. The statistic of 90% regarding men cheating is absurd. Tell her that you have done a bit of research and that you can prove that only 89% of men cheat. That will blow her 90% statistic out of the water.

Best advice is don't get married. With all the money that you will save you will save you will soon be driving that Ferrari Testarossa that you have always wanted. You won't find out about all the mistakes and faults that you make as a man.
