If a woman is "attracted to men in therapy" let me be the first to tell you that she's got some hella difficult problems and you should avoid her like the plague.

People tend to virtue signal or project problems they have that way. "I attracted to men in therapy" really means something more like, "If you aren't in therapy, you have issues, (because I have issues, and won't admit it)" or something equivalently asinine, "Look how supportive I am of Men's mental health!"

Both are bad, and both are going to cause you a world of hurt later.

This is an engineered phenomenon. It is engineered by the vast preponderance of woke female psychologists telling women who are in therapy that the only way to be "healthy" is to be in therapy (so those women can be adequately educated about their victimhood), and to recruit other women to therapy for their own health.

Meanwhile, these woke psychologists are also telling women that they should only associate with "healthy" men who are also in therapy where those men are adequately educated by all those woke female psychologists (and woke male feminist psychologists - because there's no way to get through the academic qualifications to get into the field of psychology especially as a male, without at least pretending to be a woke feminist) about how those men are oppressors.

Don't get me wrong, I am a believer in mental health care (for those who need it). My wife is a therapist and has made me aware of this trend in her field.

85% of new psychology graduates are female. And psychology has been infiltrated by SJW's. They want to know you've had prescreening to eliminate any masculine tendencies you may have. Kind of like sending a dog to training school.

Just ignore the stupid trend. I remember years back it was fashionable for women to say "I like a man who is in touch with his feminine side" (whatever that means), yet those same women would be lusting after tough guys in biker gangs. There is a difference between what women say that want in a man, and the men they really lust after.

I’ve done a lot of therapy, I personally think today’s therapy didn’t help me. I think everybody should figure out what therapeutic processes works for them. But in my personal experience it makes me feel very judged and it is mostly women.

As a man in therapy I can safely tell you that women either avoid men in therapy or use and abuse them. If a woman is "attracted to" and seeks out somebody with either a mental illness or just enough problems to warrant an actual psychological or even psychiatric treatment, she either has some disturbing fetish or ulterior motives.

I've spoken to a female friend about this. For her it's a green flag because she's experienced a lot of men who were completely unable/unwilling to work on themselves and kept running into the same problems. If a man is in therapy it shows he's working on himself and his problems, just like she is. So at least, for my friend, it's not about men being damaged but her wanting someone you can have open communication with and deal with things.

I remember that Jordan Peterson said men are less likely to ask for help when it comes to mental health (which is very detrimental for guys and the people around them when they need help).

Maybe those women don’t have men’s wellbeing in mind but it’s a step forward from “men in therapy is taboo” and “real men don’t have problems ever” or “if you go to therapy you must be a p***y”.

the extreme view OP mentions “all men need therapy because they are damaged” is not a popular opinion among women (let’s say the average woman is not the internet troll).

I've gone to therapy. It was wonderful tbh. But I went for my own personal reasons and not because someone suggested it.

In the end, now I have more emotional control and a good grasp of what to look for in women and I can identify women's bullshit when seeking relationships.

It was a good call for me to take it.

My last girlfriend did this. She had a therapist and recommended I go to therapy with her or get one. I got one after I broke up with her unassociated with her. It was cool, but i only did it for 4 sessions. It helped me process the breakup. I would do it again if I was grieving over a break up.

She needed it as she has a problem with letting her past go.

I think it IS a genuine problem that for a big chunk of society, men don't have good outlets to let out their emotional problems and wind up putting a lot of it on the women they date, not out of malice, but because a romantic relationship is one of the only contexts where a lot of men feel like they can be emotionally vulnerable. This means that in many cases women feel like they have 'work to do' helping to be a soundboard for the traumas and troubles of their male partners, which can be exhausting.

But this whole issue can't just be trivialized into 'men, get therapy' because as many people in the comments say, therapy isn't always the most accessible thing for a lot of people. If we're talking about a man who's uncomfortable being genuinely emotive with people he's actually close to, why do you think he'll be able to do it with a stranger? It speaks to the larger issue of what men are socially 'allowed' to feel.

I actually view this as positive, and would suggest women are trying to advocate for men's mental health. There might be negative undertones or begins from some people, but I don't see any issue here

I suspect the replies are mainly men speculating, I’ll tell you the real reason. Whether or not it’s true, many women feel like a therapist when in a relationship with a man. I think this stems from the societal expectations that men can’t be emotional and aren’t allowed to cry. As such (as is discussed heavily on this sub) this can lead to many mental health issues for men. Women in general (unless they’re really fcking weird) say this meaning that rather than having the expectation to fix the man, they can go to therapy and sort out these issues. This is a way of wanting men to get help and have better mental health, regardless of how it is perceived

Being in therapy is a green flag for any one. I don’t even think that most men avoid therapy. There’s just a stigma against men being vulnerable. But therapy is a great tool for anyone to fully understand and control their emotions. It makes sense that women would be attracted to a man who is in touch with his feelings, has a strong emotional intelligence and could be a pillar of support when things get difficult.
