For all the lip service about how we need to tackle "toxic masculinity" there sure tends to be a lot of virtue signalling sorrounding it

I will give you some context

On Saturday evening as we were driving down to Laredo TX for our typical family gathering during Christmas, in the middle of the roadtrip I decided to start talking about my walk trip to Nuevo Laredo over the border, with my mom to pick up some money transfer from Coppel, the highlight of the story is that I metaphorically almost "shit" my pants while walking down there because it felt like a warzone just to step into it

And what does my aunt do while driving? She invalidates my story and calls it a load of "bullshit"

Why? JUST WHY? I can handle teasing, I can handle grade A insults, even racially charged ones or those pertaining to my intellectual disability

But why MAKE FUN OF THE DAMN FACT I COULD'VE BEEN LITERALLY MURDERED FOR FUCK SAKE'S? Although I shouldn't be too surprised given I already have to deal with a toxic household, my aunt is a crazy bitch about just everything(and not because she is a woman, I mean in the sense that she is a crazy person, and someone with very seriously anti-social/ill-mannered character) but the fact that she went on to be an asshole about this particular story really fucking boils my blood, not in a violent way of course, but it really one of the most distasteful things that has ever come of her mouth

Nuevo Laredo is literally a warzone, why the fuck would you joke about that? I legit could have been FUCKING killed

As if I as a man haven't already been made fun off of every damn struggle I had

For all the talk about "toxic masculinity" I only also have seen men being held accountable for the perpetual and never women, goes to show that the scapegoat of toxic masculinity is a way to keep shutting down men's overall activism because feminists are scared as fuck that the awareness sorrounding their very radical activism has been exposed
