It depends on her personality. If it can be amicable then tell her. If she's going to be a nightmare then don't tell her and just let her get served.

You are entering the most dangerous part of any marriage. Avoid the booze. Try to eat well (spend some extra bucks to ensure it if you can).

Get used to a hurry up and wait life for maybe a year if she chooses to drag this out. Try to keep a more meta view of it if so…I am waiting to get my ex outta the home that I own over a year after I asked her to sign petition for divorce. This is probably in part because I did a natural male thing and face each step of the process full frontal, armor up, rather than pushing hard each day but keeping focused on the overall picture.

Spend good money on your attorney but keep your guard up and see that he or she is actually delivering service commensurate to the price.

You are in a dangerous time. Seek friends. Try a new hobby.

You can do this, most of us here already have or will. Keep reaching out to real friends and humans you can talk to in person about this challenge. I read somewhere that 1 in 8 men that experience or are experiencing divorce off themselves. I made it through to a healthy place and I’m pretty sure I’m not gonna be that 1 in 8. Everyone in this thread will try to steer you through to safety but end of the day you have to navigate and bail and paddle and not give up. I beam you strength.

Update Tried to tell the spouse that I filed. Wanted to do so in person. She said she’s busy until Sunday when she can meet. I said ok. Whatever. Tired of not getting any priority and being pushed to the side and back burner.

I'm just giving mine everything and taking all debts to finish it. So we can both move on with our lives. Do I feel guilty, absolutely, but the past is the past.

I would use the fact that she is already living like she is single or is in another relationship to guilt-trip her into a painless divorce. But this way, you have to let her know divorce is on its way.
