I’ve always wanted to an MD or MD/PhD. But lately I am seeing so many men around me still want to be breadwinners. I think this also stems from my ex being upset with the possibility of me making a lot of money. He always said that once I started making a lot of money then I would call all the shots (not true) and he wouldn’t like that. I don’t have a desire to be the breadwinner at all. I really value traditional romance and I want a man who will surprise me, treat me to things and take me out. But I do feel like they’ll be less inclined if I make more. I am going into engineering, so if I date another engineer or someone in business there is a good chance they’ll make more than me. But I almost feel like I am mentally holding myself back from success because I don’t want to deter any potential partners. Having a relationship and being in love is actually one of the most important things to me, I’d really like to get married in the next 5 years and eventually have a family. I am 25F
