I was just watching a live play in which one of the female characters said she 'didn't need a man.' The women behind us, cheered: a little too loudly. I am sure they d list all the things they can do without a man s help. But funnily enough it works both ways.

You see, I live alone and so do my own cooking, cleaning, laundry, DIY, and shopping. Each day I organise my own work clothes, diary calendar and commute. (A female colleague couldn't seriously belive I remembered items for the office party - and was surprised when i broight them). To say nothing of the multiple projects I am currently engaged in. Now that sounds quite arrogant, but as women like the ones above keep doing it (and shoving it in our faces), I figure they deserve a dose of their own medicine. Society always applauds women who don't need a man s help, but doesn't talk about men like us.

So how long have I been doing this for - a few months? Maybe a year or two perhaps? Nope. A grand total of - drumroll please - twelve years.

That's right.

TWELVE. YEARS.

Now some might say 'how sad being alone so long'. I'm not officially MGTOW, but in the current (awful) dating climate and the shit that I've seen happening to those in relationships, it s been a 'glass half full' situation because it s been:

  • 12 years of not being called an idiot and told I can't get anything right
  • 12 years not spent dreading the journey home for the next argument
  • 12 years not being told how to arrange my own home
  • 12 years not being undermined by sarcastic remarks
  • 12 years not being dragged to events I don't want to go to
  • 12 years choosing to come and go where I please

In short people have actually had to treat me with respect. And I will say to their faces, exactly what i think. Because as a single man, I have that freedom.

Sounds pretentious, right? Well this is only how the ladies above behaved. They love boasting about this to us, so if they have a problem with that then I guess some people can't take their own medicine, eh? They cheer for independent women. I'm an Independent Man.

It works both ways.
