We often mention that many more men commit suicide than women. We are so focused on Western society to fail to realize that is not the norm everywhere. We often hear people say that men are not as resilient as women, that we use more lethal methods because we are more aggressive by nature, and other flawed explanations.

I say such explanations are flawed, because this suicide disparity is not universal, as it would have been if the cause was in the men's nature.

By 2016, suicide rates among Chinese men and women were almost the same—9.1 for men and 10.3 for women

In China, more women end their life than men. But the rate for both genders is similar.

This is why I claim that more men committing suicide in Western society is proof that Western society is hostile to men. The reason for high suicide rates among men is not in the men'sa nature, but it stems from society that is hostile to men. And unfortunately, none of the issues affecting men are being properly addressed.
