I realize this is going to be difficult to hear,

But just be thankful you don’t have children with this woman.

Talk to your lawyer about it, the dog you adopted prior to your marriage will most likely be ‘your’ dog and the dog that was adopted while you were together with be ‘communal’ property in which she’s entitled to half.

Don’t let it get nasty and vicious though as you obviously care for the dogs, while she may not care as much as you or is simply doing this to hurt you.

Once the dog is in her possession ‘anything’ can happen.

There’s been situations where a nasty situation occurred between partners with pets and after everything was settled the vindictive party had the pet they received euthanized.

Offer to pay half for a new puppy she can raise and call her own if that is an option for you financially and that the dogs should not be split up for their own well being.

This is why I swipe every dating online profile I see with a dog in it. We all know women are only capable of loving their children and pets unconditionally. Us men are only loved based on conditions of what we can provide for them. I'm not competing against that.

In regards to your situation, perhaps offer to purchase her a new dog up to the equal value of the one she wants. Explain that the two animals belong together as siblings and see if she goes for that.

I let my ex-wife keep our dogs. She kept the house with the large backyard, and I didn't want to bring dogs to my small apartment.

Any time my ex goes out of town she asks if I can watch the dogs while she's away, which I usually do. It means she doesn't have to pay to board them, they don't have to deal with the stress of being boarded, and I get to spend some time with the dogs. Win-win.

I haven't seen my dogs in nearly 9 months. I miss them dearly. She tried giving me our first dog that I got before we got married but while we were together. However, I bought a female companion for him shortly after we got him and we just gotten married and I don't want to split them up and that's what she's trying to do. I know Charlie would be crushed if he was split up from Fiona. Anyway, she has the house and I have the apartment. My apartment is not pet friendly even though they say they are. She's been a f****** master artist at dragging out our divorce. I'm really hoping this January 11th hearing we have will help speed things along so I can finally get our f****** house sold and go buy a little something for myself and get my f****** dogs back from that. B****.

Dogs are property. Assuming you’re the one that adopted them, and it’s your name on the adoption papers, they’re your property.

I had to split them so I took the one I had prior. It sucks but the dogs forget about it sooner than you will.
