She's freaking out bc she never thought you'd actually do this. Don't let her knock you off your game here. Serve her the papers, make sure you have proof they've been served and you carry on. You must keep everything strictly about next steps in the divorce proceedings. She wasn't busy when she wanted a separation, nor was she so busy when she cheated, so her response to this is bogus.

Read a lot of the posts on these forums. Like 70% of divorces that start out amicable end up shit shows anyway. Key is you need to man-up with all of this. Not saying you are not a man, just saying now is the time to drive your interests. Need to tell her flat out you are pursuing divorce. The day she cheated was the day you were done. That day you were relieved of any spousal obligations and no longer a husband. This is a business transaction now. If she wants this to be easy, then you’re open to working it out. Why? Not because you care about her, but because it’s in your shared interest. If not, her choice to make this emotional. Need to tell her you’d rather be broke and living under a bridge than stay married.

Time to be cold, stoic and, at the same time, respectful.

See the thing is she wanted a separate bc she wanted to cheat but I bet my house on it that the guy backed out after he found out she would be single alot of these clowns tell the woman they want to be with them and say all the right things but when it comes down to it the don't .

Now you wife is pissed because she sees you moving on and now doesn't know what to do she fked up .mins did the same thing she wouldn't give me a glass of water if I was on fire after 12 years but as soon as I said fk it and moved in with a female oh hell broke lose and she started calling me wanting to come back. This went on for months . She could see I didn't need her to move on and enjoy life it drove her nuts.

First of all, you are not alone. I'm going through this exact same bullshit.

At this point, you want to make peace with the fact that it isn't going to be a peaceful transition. It will also be expensive and don't let that stop you from finding happiness. I struggle with this but you have to focus on the person you will be 5, 10, or 20 years from now.

Source: Filed for 'amicable' divorce, wife filed counterpetition with outlandish claims, and purposefully tanked mediation. Between the 2 of us, we are at $20k in legal and mediation fees already with no clear path forward.

May I ask how old she is. Odds are the guy she is sleeping with, is married, and is not trying to leave his family. Women tend to over-inflate their value in the dating market. If she is over thirty talking to her divorced friends, she is hearing nightmare stories about today's dating with the apps. There are YouTube channels dedicated to the wall.

You tell your family and her family now what she has been up to and why your divorcing. Keep her on the defensive. Start taking actions. If she is on your cell plan, see yeah. Kill the streaming services. Change your will. Take her off as beneficiary. Move prized possessions into storage or with family.

She is bad news. It does’t matter what you do she will always be planning to screw you over. That’s why the attack on her character is so important, making her pay the price socially for being a shit bag.

It won’t be uncontested. Let your lawyer do the negotiating, don’t try and compromise with her on your own (I did, wish I didn’t). It’s going to suck for a long time but it will get better.

My ex left in March and “hired” an attorney. Never served me after it was “sent to court.” I looked because it shows up immediately. And it never happened. So I finally filed last week. My concern was our mutual house not being sold on time (had to be sold per the hard money lender) by Dec 1 and I didn’t want the risk coming back to me or it being sold without my knowledge either. I signed a quit deed. Tried saying I got nothing from it. But there was over 15k in commingled funds in our mutual account for it. So I want my proof that I also was involved in that house and we can had proof that I was supposed to be agent on the house sale which I’m being told no to now. So with the divorce paperwork served, I’m covering myself.
