Posted this in r/divorce but wanted to get some perspective from here as well.

Hello all,

So, many of the posts here are regarding divorces of people who are significantly older than I am (M27), or they have one or more children, and I find it difficult to relate.

My wife (F27) filed for divorce a little over a week ago, and of course I am struggling with it. We have been married for five years and together for nearly 8. This is her decision, not mine. We have no children. We had just built a brand new house and were trying for a baby.

She chose to leave out of the blue. Sure we had our struggles and disagreements, but nothing that I do not think can’t be fixed. My thoughts are, because everything happened so fast, than she cheated, is going through some kind of mental breakdown, or is just being immature, but that’s for another post.

I am not trying to shed blame off of myself, there is always things I could have done better and improved on. I’m aware of that, again, I just think they could be fixed and don’t call for divorce, but here we are.

Point being, being relatively young, and without children, I feel especially embarrassed about the situation. It’s embarrassing that we did not even have kids to fight about. We both have good jobs and don’t fight about finances. Hell, we barely fought over anything, and maybe that’s part of the problem, but that is for another post as well.

Her current position is that she wants to go through the process civilly without lawyers to save money. The only hang-up is that she wants to keep the brand new house. I don’t want to make her life miserable, but I can’t stand the thought of her sleeping with another man in my house or my bed. Is this immature of me?

My question is basically, any other young-ish dudes in a similar situation to me that I can relate to? Any advice for someone who is really struggling right now? TIA.
