A lot a guys fall into the ‘checklist mentality’ trap, where they believe that because they have certain things going on for them, women should automatically be interested in them. Attraction doesn’t work that way. Just because you’ve achieved certain self-improvement benchmarks or have some generic, desirable physical traits doesn’t make you a catch. This is a Nice Guy way of thinking.

“I’m tall, in shape, have a good job, can hold a conversation, have friends, etc. Why don’t I have women who want to date me?”

This is a mindset of entitlement that Nice Guys fall into.

Just because you have a good job, does that necessarily mean you’re interesting? Can you convey an enthusiasm for your lifestyle effectively, in a way that she wants to be a part it?

It doesn’t matter if you can hold a pleasant conversation, if you never spark emotion in her, or if you frame yourself as a friend, rather than a potential romantic interest.

Being generically good looking isn’t enough. There are thousands upon thousands of clean cut, handsome men out there. Does your look have any edge to it, or do you just look like every other decent looking guy out there?

Likewise, does your personality have any edge, or are you just an agreeable Nice Guy who is pliable? A guy who has a six figure income, looks good, but is too available and agreeable, who doesn’t state his own opinions will lose a woman’s interest quickly. Don’t assume that she should be happy to be with you just because you have a good job and a nice haircut. That doesn’t set you apart.

Don’t rely on a checklist of conventionally attractive traits and assume women will want to date you. You still have to have developed social skills, be interested, march to the beat of your own drummer, have some edge and be willing to be yourself unapologetically. If you’re pleasant, non-sexual, boring and agreeable, a ripped body, high salary, and cool friends won’t yield results.
