Don't leave the ball in a girl's court ever. It's your job as a man to be proactive. You could have suggested a reschedule as your reply immediately. "Sure, no worries. I'm free [time and place] if that works."

Girls are passive and shy. They are often not going to be proactive about reaching out. What are you gaining from not reaching out to her? Not looking needy? It's not needy to be trying to set up a date with her, even if you need to reschedule.
