You could try and be smooth by saying "just your friends, not you?" Then try and keep her talking there so that she has to bring her friends to you rather than you going to them. If they walk to you they will be more likely to say yes to your next suggestion to go for drinks or whatever.

I tried using something similar to this as a pickup line before. I was trying to get with a dude and was saying how "back in high school you were quite the stud, all of my friends thought you were really attractive. It's an IOI and a compliment, it could also be seen as a bit of a shit test. Act unsurprised but mildly pleased, as if people always like you so why wouldn't her friends. Just be cool.
