So I'm a pretty socially awkward kid (albeit not that bad looking), but I go out to parties every weekend anyways. Most of the time I float around just talking to people I know or drinking heavily enough that I get the balls to talk to anyone else.

Tonight was different though. I decided I'd had enough of that, and determined to try and play some of the seddit techniques I'd read about.

So my friends and I find this basement party, with music so loud you can barely think, and so many people you can't move at all. My friends and I gravitate towards the one spot there's any room at all (and the only spot that's lit well enough to see what people look like).

We're there for probably 15 minutes when I spot this HB7 not 5 feet in front of me, talking with another group. As I'm looking at her, she turns and smiles at me. Go time.

I motion for her to come closer and she gives me this "What are you talking about?" look, so I walk over to her instead. Flustered already, I say that I saw her looking at me, to which she retorts that I was looking at her. I'm on the verge of freezing up here, so I say I thought she was cute and ask her to dance. Somehow she says yes.

We dance for a bit and after a while I spin her around and we start making out. Still nervous, I ask her if she wants to get out of here. She responds that she can't leave her roommate here alone (roommate had just gone through a breakup or something and this was her recovery party). In what is probably my only good idea of the night, I summon one of my friends over and match him up with HB7's roommate. Alas, despite that they could now leave together, they decided against it. But not before I got a #/k-close.

In summary, to anyone who's on the fence because you're afraid of anything, just go for it, you never know if your fuck-ups will turn out alright.

(I do not recommend any of these "techniques".)
