Seddit's Most Recommended: Books, Videos, and Websites

At least once a week, somebody posts the following question: "Hey Seddit, what are some good books/videos about inner game/body language/pickup/etc?" Post after post, the same few resources tend to get the highest recommendations. Given the regularity of both the question and the answers, I figured it's about time someone compiled a list of the best (non-Reddit) resources for an aspiring Sedditor.

This is my attempt to do just that. I've searched through many of the "what do you recommend?" and "I recommend" posts from the last two years and pulled out the highest-regarded answers. I've done my best to balance my inherently subjective judgment with the opinion of the community as a whole. Some entries I don't care for, but a significant number of people do. Full disclosure: of the 27 resources in the original list, I have viewed 18 at least partially. Perhaps 3 or 4 are here due primarily to my own opinion.

Remember: the sidebar is a great place to start
In the comments, offer an objective description and a subjective recommendation (or not) for the items on the list. Name any you think should be here, that aren't. If the post picks up steam I'll start putting the descriptions under the links.
Mods: I'd love to see something like this on the sidebar. Something that will be read and updated by the community as time goes on. Could be this one. Could be a list someone makes in the future. Could be this, which is basically the same thing and does an excellent job.

Although your first statement was bigoted, you've explained yourself well now so I recall that statement. And no offense taken.

No they're not mutually exclusive, but to me being an individual is purely a good in itself, whether you are a "screwed-up" or not is a matter of entirely different standards, which I think nihilism falls under, but has nothing to do with objectivism.

It's false to say that objectivism states there's no objective way of judging, because it shows an objective way of judging: what is in your self-interest is a good thing to do. All the word "objective" means is that emotions and opinions don't go into discernment of facts and reality, which means there are still plenty of ways to have "objective" concepts of judging. I know that everyone can have a different self-interest, but that's a counterpoint I won't address unless you think there's relevant contradictions in that. It also teaches moral principles, which are another objective way of judging, one being "those who commit violence against others in order to force an idea are wrong [in their methodology of teaching, regardless of what they teach]".

So you're right, I do disagree with your interpretation, and it's not a defense to say that it's a common interpretation because just 'cause other people something is one way doesn't mean it's right.

I was going to post a section on physical attractiveness from a textbook, but it would be too long. I can PM it to whoever wants it.

Physical attraction is measured by surveying, through verbal and physiological means, men or women as they observe different types of people. There is a solid foundation of evidence that shows us what men and women generally find attractive, and what they find attractive is no secret.

Scientists can then perform studies using people who possess these physically attractive traits. For example:

Hatfield and her colleagues (Walster, Aronson, Abrahams, & Rottman, 1966) randomly matched 752 incoming students at the University of Minnesota for a blind date at a dance during freshman orientation week. Although the students had previously taken a battery of personality and aptitude tests, the researchers paired them up at random. On the night of the dance, the couples spent a few hours together dancing and chatting. They then evaluated their date and indicated the strength of their desire to date that person again. Of the many possible characteristics that could have determined whether they liked each other such as their partner s intelligence, independence, sensitivity, or sincerity the overriding determinant was physical attractiveness.

Physical attractiveness isn't just the overriding factor in intimate relationships, either. Physically attractive people also tend to earn more money and have more power (for example, presidential elections are usually determined by how tall the candidate is).

While I'm not a fan of the blueprint for other reasons, you are rejecting the whole for a small part. The part is not the whole, and the little tiny part of it that regard looks is not because he's saying looks don't matter. He's saying, looks are the not prime, core, value that determines success with women. You can be an extremely handsome good looking model, but if you're depressed and you have a victim mentality and you think everyone is out to get you, you will not attract people to your life, you will scare them away, and I have a friend who is a male model who was like this. Therefore, the prime, core value is the way you view the world, aka inner game, which is what RSD is about. If your mind is in the right place, this affects your thoughts, which affects your behaviour, which affects your actions, which affect your results. That's why he says behaviour is important, and looks aren't. Tell me, if an HB10 approached you, and you thought she was super hot, but she swore, had mannerisms of street trash, was negative, and made you feel miserable, would you go into a relationship with her simply because of her looks?

I'm not disregarding other facets. I'm saying physical attraction is the overriding component in attraction. There are other components which are important, but physical attraction is the most important. I don't know how much clearer I can be.

The Dunning-Kruger Effect

Ugh. Can we please stop using this term? Stupid people are too stupid to realize they're stupid. Everyone knows that.

They way you are coming off, it seems like you need to read some basic works in evolutionary psychology and seduction

'I disagree with you, therefore you should read more.' I could say the same to anyone I disagree with. Have an argument or fuck straight off.

Stop the personal attacks. Go back to pimping Oreos, and maybe try adding some Tim-tams to the roster. They're dee-lish.
