Hoping you guys could help me out...if you were in your 20's, and moved to a new city having known no one, could you use these techniques to make friends?

No better gift to yourself then just going to small bar and practice chatting people up and making friends with other regulars and learning how to talk to anyone and not feel self conscious.

Just go to restaurants and sit at the bar and work on small short conversations with bartenders or other people. Talk to someone in line at starbucks, whatever.

It is actually easier not knowing anyone, and you can always say you just moved here.. People love to help out strangers in that situation.. You can basically ask anyone about places to go, eat, bars, etc.

No difference the confidence you need to pickup a girl, or feel at home chatting up a stranger on the bus. It's all about practicing and removing any fears or feeling awkward. Humans are amazing if you feel nervous, they will feel uncomfortable. If you feel comfortable and confident, they will feel glad to be socializing (except if you give off any subtle creepy tones or intentions)

My experience? I'm 21, just moved to Austin Texas five months ago. I made a plan to talk to literally everyone, both within my apartment complex and outside of it.

Within the first week, I had a decent social circle – definitely a foundation to build from. I've gone on to make great friendships with these people I met originally, and know all but... hmm... five people at my apartment complex.

My advice is just go out the fucking way to talk to everyone. If you see someone in your complex or near your house that's across the street, go over to them and introduce yourself, tell them you just moved and you're looking for things to do/people to hang out with.

Get phone numbers for cool guys you meet and girls. Depending on how much time you have, dedicate the first few weeks to building a social life. This will pay off exponentially HUGE in the upcoming months.

Good luck man! It comes down to planning and execution... at least it did with me.

My favorite Opener: smile "Hey, I just moved here to (city/town name) and I dont know the area yet. What's something cool that I should go do or see?" later you can use "What's your favorite bar/venue in town?"

Most people will LOVE to tell you their favorite things about their area.

Another good thing to do, when you get to a bar, strike up a game of pool against another guy near the pool tables. Get chatting with him, he'll probably introduce you to some people. Later, if you're in a set and he walks past, you can shoot him a high five, or a 'hey whats up?'. Boom, instant social proof.

I'm about to be in the same position as you and I plan to do just that. I do this when I travel for work and I never have problems making new friends for the night. Last time I was in a city I had never been to before. Chatted up the bellhop (my age) and asked him where the good places are and wheres a good happy hour spot. Made friends with a group that seemed pretty fun and they invited me out to the next bar they were going to. Ended up getting 1 girl and 2 guys' numbers that night from the group. Good people and I'll be hitting them up again next time I'm in that city.

The advice that's given here I really see as more of a "How to have a powerful presence". There are some good tips on how to seduce a women, but really attraction and seduction is common across the human species, not just females.

I remember someone on a seduction forum saying that they moved to a new city, and just started sending friend request to tons and tons of local people. A lot of the people accepted the friend requests, and soon the guy was getting invited to parties and stuff.

I did a similar move, but moved in with 2 random guys I met on reddit. That definitely made it easier to invade their social circle and always have people to hang out with, but I'm guessing that's out of the question now for you.

Yes, but just so you know, in the long run, you shouldn't look at PUA as a set of techniques.
