THE best way ever for a woman to have any man she wants, is to sit somewhere crowded and noisy with a group of people, face into the room, have your notepad read with something like "Your Cute, message me, 555-****" (whatever US mobile numbers are, I'm a brit) and just scan the room for someone who piques your interest.

It will take a lot of confidence but just see if you lock eye contact with the man you have chosen, your body will instantly react with a bit of anxiety if you get the right look back. That's the point you walk over with your note, smile and hand it to them. You can then walk out the door or go to the toilet and get rid of all your nerves and calm down. Collect yourself, Go back in and sit down with your friends.

If you find somewhere noisy enough, perfect excuse to pull out your notepad and write "I cant hear you because of the music and write your conversation"

Why is it a good way? Because us men are simple beings and if any half decent woman wants to get to know us, we will want to get to know them.

I know this may be oversimplifying the nerves and anxiety but in situations like this I pretend I'm someone else, like an actor, and I'm playing out a script on tv and its not actually me doing it.

Edit: Kinda realised after writing my story that you were after ways of not freezing when guys talk to you, mine might be pushing you too far.

Maybe keep a card that says "I'm mute but your cute, wanna text?"

You could also carry a card with like 5 simple sign language words, like yes, no, not sure, etc. This way, you can teach the guy hitting on you simple signs like yes/no, then he can ask you yes/no questions and you can "talk" with him more easily.

Relating to guys not wanting to talk with you because you are mute, you just have to keep going out until you connect with the right person.

Do you know American Sign Language ? I have a deafie girl that I hang out with once in a while... she tells me that most deafie's are pretty up front and honest with each other... my guess is because they some signs mean the same thing...Yes Deafie is how they call themselves btw

Go to ASL Events take ASL classes, even if you know all the signs just to meet people... Btw, if you can hear and just mute it's a big advantage to date a hearing person that knows ASL

The second biggest non-verbal que (besides smiling) is touching. If you grab his hand and smile or put your hand on his hand/arm I doubt he will leave anytime soon, even if you're not saying a word. This is also a great interlude to pulling out your pen and pad to start the conversation.

I actually have a couple of deaf/mute friends who were just fearless about approaching women at the mall/clubs. They would use these to chat with girls before there were smartphones everywhere; they even taught me how to approach girls. It's all about attitude. If you want to start meeting guys start getting involved in school and social activities like school clubs and youth groups where you will find like minded people. Do you have hobbies? Do you have things you are good at doing and like doing? I remember it being so damn hard to message and chat with my deaf/mute friends before sms/messaging became popular, but now its so easy! Don't fret!

Question out of pure curiosity. Do you know sign language? Muteness can be associated with a lot of different stuff. Is it just a disability preventing you from speaking, do you have hearing loss?

I think you got some pretty good advice. Most however revolved around what to do when approached and that's cool and all, but in case you want to take this more into your hands, you might want to look into approaching first.

If there's some anxiety about it, then look up material on approach anxiety.

I creeped for a second, sorry (not sorry). Look around for a local DHH meet up? Exposure with folks you can converse with might help you feel more comfortable to passing notes without fear of judgement or having to explain yourself.

Also, don't be in a rush. I did the high school heartbreak thing (people change alot in those years / go away to college) and then stayed single until I was 25. Was honestly worth the wait, understood more of myself and was able to be a better partner. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the desire / urge though. Miss holding hands, being sweet and such. But it comes with a price. One you pay to your partner and one you pay to yourself. Often we neglect the self seeking joy in some one else.

I miss ASL. Grew up in the only schools that had a DHH program. Was able to take it as a "foreign" language requirement. Might have to refresh when my feet are back on the ground.

Hey have you considered using online sites to meet people. Dating sites or just general social sites? At least you can then build up a bit of a mutual understanding and ensure that you're on the same page before you meet them? I have to confess I've never used online dating sites myself but I have had friends with mixed results. I've met plenty of people after meeting them online in other mutual interest sites though.
