Women here. I'll approach them and strike up a conversation.

If we're at a bar, I'll say something like, "excuse me, have you been here before? I want to get a drink and was wondering if you had any suggestions?" Then you can transition easily into introducing yourself and then a conversation if he's about it.

If we're in a public place, I'll comment on something around us or ask if he knows where the nearest xyz is or something to just slide into a conversation and gauge how busy/interested he is. I'm personally going to be moving to a new city soon, and I plan to milk the whole "I'm new here" thing when I go out to meet/approach men!

Basically in whatever situation you are, try to comment or ask something that's shared at the moment -- drinks at the bar, commenting on whatever street performance we both happen to be standing at, compliment his jacket/hair/etc. From his response, you can gauge how interested he is and whether or not he would likely be willing to continue conversation.

49f here. I recently picked up a guy in a shopping mall parking lot. He kinda did a skip and a jump off the curb and I thought he (58m) was so cute. I stared at him until he made eye contact, gave him a great big smile and walked towards him. Within about 6 sentences he told me was single, and I told him he was very cute jumping off the curb and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to meet him. I asked if we could exchange numbers, he gave me his, I texted him right then and there. We went out for coffee within a week or two. Not sure if we're going to continue. But he was very receptive. I've asked other men if they're single and if they say no I just say, ok, no problem, I just thought you were cute.

A usual encounter where a woman picks up a random man or a man in general is role reversal or in my own words shattering the stigma. The woman acts the a man and treats the initial meeting as a man would with a woman. Buys a drink attracts attention with a line any way a man would. The stigma is that a man makes the first move or starts it. Attraction or desire to know more or "wants" a person in general is not gender based. Attraction is attraction and so on women pick up on men the same way men do on women.

In most cases they look at you then look away, sometimes with a little mischievous expression, they also twitch their hair and that's it. 80% of men (me included) don't get it. In more rare occasions they initiate the conversation.
