A variety of reasons. Convenience because you don't have to look outside of your workspace; it can save a lot of time from having to roam the streets or swiping on apps during valued free time. There may be some level of familiarity and commonality since you're in a similar line of work. You may share mutual friends/coworkers. Competition and wanting to get into a relationship with her before other guys at the office make a move, etc.

But it’s also just hot. I love sex with co-workers. Because you straddle both the rigid, professional persona as well as the intimate one. That’s tension. That’s excitement. Slightly taboo and forbidden. Obviously depend on your role at work, too. If you are in somekind of leadership position - even better.

Well I see my coworkers for 5 of the 7 days in a week. That’s 5 days to talk and get to know each other for weeks, months, years, etc. So it’s no surprise those things are common at work. However, from my experiences, no woman at any of my jobs has had a crush on me.

Its quite sad, but the brutal truth is: the workplace is the closest many people have to a genuine community irl.

Used to be extremely normal to find a spouse at the workplace for gen X. When PC culture hit, it tried to kill that. It mostly has.

Lesson is: pursue what you want while you are able.

Meeting someone regularly at work means you get enough time to get to know each other and share stuff with each other, observe each other.

Doesn’t mean attraction is guaranteed.

What is guaranteed though is an amplification of whatever traits you bring to the table. If you have good frame, charm, rizz, they get amplified multifold and bring you opportunities. If you are awkward and lack social skills, maybe a simp, you get walked all over and are left wondering why things are the way they are.

If you’re a 6/10 at work with a beautiful woman, and have decent physique and charm, and PERSONALITY, you have an upper hand compared to a 8/10 she meets on an app. She gets to interact with you and your personality can make up for any physical traits you’d need to grab her attention online.

Truth is, social circles and work circles have been the classic portal for meeting people you date. Recent culture has ruined that (granted, it has its cons). If you want to make the most of it, work on yourself, hit the gym, master some rizz, hold good frame, you can be good.

A workplace is a boring and serious place. Being playful or playfully romantic spice things up to make it less boring. It’s 8 hour a day so it’s a 1/3 of our 24 hour day.

I’ve seen people doing “work wife/husband” at work all the time just to joke or play around and they end up having an affair.

Why is it weird? People you spend more time with = more likely there's some kind of romantic spark at some point.

This is extremely consistent when you look at how people met those they married. Before dating apps it's all about who you interact with on a daily basis / in your neighborhood / social circle / job etc. There's nothing strange about this and you're also completely wrong to think that it does not happen with other people you interact with frequently - like front desk, neighbors, café barista etc. Etc. Crushes for these kids of people happens just as much as at work, but obviously you spend a bit less time with them compared to co-workers.

The more you interact with someone, the greater chance you might find them attractive. You see a beautiful person, and you go for it. You like their personality, and you pursue them. Anywhere else, its just a quick interaction, and you go about your business. Online dating basically relies on physical attributes, and thats not everyone's strong suit. Also working with a partner is pretty neat.

The more time you spend in the presence of someone the more likely you are to develop a deeper relationship with them.

It’s shared time and comfort.

If you’re a regular somewhere people can develop crushes on you or you get crushes on them, but I guarantee you see your coworkers more often then you see anyone else outside your work. Normal job is 40 hours a week. I doubt anyone spends 40 hours a week around their front desk person or at their favorite food spot.

The same way people had crushes and dated people in school. People dated kids at other schools, but the majority went to the same school.

I've had the opposite lol. Literally 90% of the company is was already seeing someone when they joined. I think only maybe 4 people out of 30-50 are single.

It's not even a case of most people being old. Almost everyone's between 22 and 30, even the CEO is only 35 or so.

Its kinda the question, do I like this person? Or is it just because I spend forty hours a week with them and they are only 10 ft away from me? Honestly, I keep my work life and home life very separate, ive work at one place for about three years and I do not have any of my coworkers contact information or hang outside of work with any of them, they are my coworkers, nothing more or less. I don't think its a wise idea to get into it with a coworker, it can lead to many problems.

I've witnessed 2 instances at my current workplace of women leaving their husbands/partners for a work colleague. One of them was my line manager and is now newly engaged to the guy, both have moved on to new jobs. The other woman still works there and I'm quite friendly with her as I've known her for a good few years but her colleague boyfriend has since left the company. Also as an observer I've seen quite a bit of fornication going on, mostly with married guys fucking married women and I've also heard that one young girl sucked off one of the managers when she was a temp and shortly after got a permanent job. Even though I have a crush on a couple of women at work (both Ukrainian) I've never been involved with any women there in the 9 years I've been there, in fact the last time I was ever with a woman was at a previous job 17 years ago who happened to be married, and the girl before that, at the same workplace, was also in a relationship. I'm not proud of it but at least it was an option I had which I don't have now.

For me, it's more common as you see them more. Same as people you know in your neighborhood (my dog walker) offer it out to me, even though they are in a LTR and tell me a week prior that they never cheated.

I would advise against being a home wrecker, it never ends well.

One reason is you spend more time with people at work than your family. Once romantic feelings or positive feelings begin to brew It's like a date that lasts until it moves to the next stage.

Then there is emotional attachment. Some are more easily attached to people/animals when they spend enough time with them.

Work allows for regular: proximity, shared experiences, emotional exposure, goals, interests, discussions and social alignment. Plus women get to sus out your reactions, value and safety well before any flirting begins.

Other than the risk of it going sour, power dynamics or HR, work is a terrific place to find a match.
