Why should you not be able to do that or talk about these male issues? You can see that girls know they're privileged and dont want it explored.

There are plenty of anti male biases, stereotypes and hipocrisies. And the idea you are sexist because you didnt cover sexism against women is ridiculous. They have entire university depts (sociology, gender studies, womens studies) and government funding into the millions pouring into their grievance research institutions.

You did nothing wrong. Anyone who dousnt go along with the status quo is seen as a pariah, trouble maker etc. We need to explore these issues. Women and girls dont want them explored as they are insecure about their advantages.

The reality is, like in all true rights movements. The voice for equality is often knocked down, and knocked down hard. We are lucky in this day and age to even have this venue to speak to one another. Understand that there are going to be many times that you are going to walk uphill and against the wind all alone. Be okay with that. My second piece of advice is never attack, belittle, or degrade the other side. Others will disagree with me on this, and that's okay. You can advocate for yourself and your side without dragging others down. This also does not give the opposition ammunition to attack your facts, and they will attack your information, your person, and your character. By denying them the ability to do that as much as possible you lend credibility to your efforts.

What can you do about it? Speak out louder about it and refuse to tolerate it. Be assertive and confident when you speak on it too - don't sound weak, unsure, or unable to confront women on this.

Let 'em know what the deal is. Confront them with hard truths again and again. They need to be confronted about it. Constantly.

If all men do this, they will change. Women are emotionally-driven and don't like logic and accountability - this is why they instinctively rebel (and honestly why they need to be controlled, but that's a story for a diff day). So it's good you're learning this early.

But know this: it is your moral obligation as a man, and as a human, to stand up against injustice. And right now? Men are being targeted the most.

In that situation it would have been wise to start with an acknowledgment that of course there is sexism against women and you do not want to minimize it, but since it was being covered by other students you thought it would be interesting to consider whether sexism also exists against men. Unfortunately media tends to teach people that there is only two sides to everything, so to be ‘for’ mens rights must mean you are ‘against’ womens rights. Try to explain with some other example that they will not be able to turn into a simple binary. Religion is a good one ; no one can disagree that anti-Semitism is bad, but supporting Jews doesn’t mean I can‘t or don’t care about Muslims. I am surely correct to also oppose Islamophobia. Protestant vs Catholic, Presbyterian vs Methodist, all have caused harm against the others but in the US we believe no one side deserves rights more than another.

A presentation on sexism against men alone doesn't make you sexist if your citations are factual and not just about hating on the other gender.

Sexism is tricky, because a person can be a victim of sexism and still be sexist themselves. It's always important to look in the mirror and do a self evaluation and check to make sure you're doing things right.

It's unfortunate because there is a stigma where society doesn't seem to realize that sexism can include sexism against men. It's like because our system is patriarchal it doesn't count? But it does count. It is every bit as damaging.

Unfortunately, you will get a lot of flack for voicing these kinds of things. Women are taught from a young age about the pioneering feminists and that whole of history that did earn us a fairer shake. And in our youths (and sometimes into adulthood) we don't differentiate between the then and the now.

If you get a bad mark based on your teacher's opinion, don't take it lying down, ask questions about what the reasons are for lost marks. Point out the textbooks you used for information and so on.

Awesome project. The whole point of those presentation is to build confidence and there’s no better way to do that then to pick an unpopular topic.

I did a presentation in college about gun control in a politically mixed class. Never felt so nervous but now I know nothing will ever be as challenging as that

Just don’t do that kind of thing when the grade matters. You’ll be graded harshly so just say the bland, popular thing that your teacher agrees with, get your A and move on with your life
