We can discuss the cultural aspects: the unwritten norms and rules of a society that cannot be quantified or academically cited.

A good example I can give is the narrative of male-domination; the apex fallacy that is ad-nauseam taught to young boys, where the idea that based on their gender they are predetermined for hegemony. The fallacy here of course is the fact that this hegemonic power is concentrated in exceedingly few hands. But you'll never actually find a study that investigates the idea of men emotionally struggling due to societal antagonism, unless that study uses the same old "men suffer from the patriarchy too" trope.
