To a lesser extent that was always true. What you're really asking is why is it so much worse lately? Because we're in the middle of a culture war. And women vote more for the establishment (the Democrats and some Republicans) than men do. That's why men are now persona non grata.

Normally I wouldn’t say this, but here’s something I haven’t said before. We are in an era where men have been laying down in the mud to be stepped on by women so their fair lady won’t get her feet muddy. In other words men have become a joke in society’s eyes, women don’t respect us, we have pedestalized women and made things too good. When women keep getting their way, are encouraged to behave in messed up ways and the laws reward them for it, they are going to keep doing it. If women physically attack us, misbehave or say anything that upsets us there is practically nothing we can legally do to protect ourselves. Men are so scared of the law because it’s enforced by men and will almost always take the side of the woman. This behaviour by women is going to get worse until men do something about it.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it hates men, it simply doesn't want anything out of men other than his hard work and its fruits.

At the same time its scared of men and the energy that men bring with him, so it tries to put him down.

Men can change the paradigm, build civilizations, overthrown governments. Obviously no one in power wants that and a lot of power in the current society is like money - its an illusion. It works, but only because enough people support that illusion.

I'd say there are two major root sources of resentment which are then amplified by wider societal problems.

First root source of resentment is the history of traditional gender roles:

For a while gender roles were more narrowly defined on both sides
On the women side, it lead to them being treated as 2nd class citizens (being legally closer to a child or property than an adult)
However, since people like simple narratives and culprits, "men oppressing women" won over "society at large enforcing gender roles"

Second major root source of resentment is rape. Even though it's a minority of men who get involved in it, it's easily painted as a broader male vs female thing.

Then, these things are amplified by media and rage baiting. Also the "women are wonderful" problem. And also male hyper agency.

Take a clue from what's going on in Ukraine or Gaza. "Society" doesn't care about the people that die there, because they don't belong to the "in-group".

It's the same with men and the Western society. It's run by the (psychopathic) elite, and despite the "patriotic" narrative, they couldn't care less about men. "Their fellow men" are generally their rivals in the mating game. So, the elite are only happy to humiliate them. And since women can now be put to work (in the clean and safe jobs that modern capitalism has created), why not turn everyone into their little bitches?

Food for thought:

A world that men created to facilitate ease of life for women.

Look up the terms gynocentric and the feminine imperative.

Women want the rights of men, privileges of being women (chivalry) and the accountability of children.

Feminism has become female chauvinism.

Feminism has masculinized women.

Chasing education, career advancement, status and wealth are masculine metrics of success. These are qualities women find attractive in men. Not vice versa. Feminism has scammed women to pursue these metrics for the past 3-4 generations.

Men find beauty as the primary attractive quality. Her career, education and etc are a bonus but it doesn’t make her hotter in a man’s eyes. A 42 year old female professor isn’t as attractive as a 21 year female super model or IG model. Women will shame men for their preferences but we are supposed to accept their standards.

Women fall in love with what they hear. Men fall in love with what they see. That’s why women wear makeup and men lie. Both are deceptive practices.

A women’s personal worth is not correlated with her attractiveness to the opposite gender. Women love to conflate the 2 and use that as an attack vector against men.

Misogyny is unacceptable but misandry is? Toxic masculinity is not acceptable but toxic femininity is?

Society doesn't hate men. It just doesn't care for them. This Is a cultural consequence of the patriarchy, which promoted men's value being tied to what they can provide to those Around them, even their own lives in times of war, or emergencies (Women and children first).

We just have to hope this way of looking at it becomes More common, but for that we need to keep working on dispelling the lie that the patriarchy favours men. It doesn't. It favoured patriarchs.

Less than 10% of rapists end up in jail. What world do you live in? Society doesn't hate men, it hates women. Women are being harassed constantly and nothing happens to those men who harass. Men are never held accountable. Those false accusations are extremely rare, no matter how much public attention a couple cases get.
