People have all sorts of stuff going on in their life and have all different kinds of moods. I think it would be a mistake to assume this means something negative about how much he cares about you.

If you texted and he ignored you for a day, then reached out without acknowledging that the next day, then yeah, that’s a little weird.

If he didn’t text and you didn’t text and he just reached out the following day - not weird at all. He reached out the following day like nothing happened because nothing actually happened.

So the guy missed a day? That's your biggest problem?

Admittedly I have a rule where I usually try to have the "last text", but that is entirely to avoid exactly this scenario: "OMG! He didn't text me in X days/hours/minutes!" Nobody needs that kind of drama in their lives.

I'm a mature man with a lot of experience. In my relationships I rarely reach out first on any given day. I've been with my fiance for almost 3 years and my hope is the two of us will be together for the rest of my life. We are long distance at the moment and 9/10 days we talk after she initiates communication. Of course I always respond as soon as I'm able. Long term it's the best dynamic. You might think you want him to text you first, but after awhile that will become annoying to you. You are best off with a man who has a lot going on. Career, charitable service, recreational interests etc.

I’m married so long out of the dating game lol. But yes, given the ease of texting etc I would expect at least quick daily communication.
