So I've been trying do a quick call before a date. This can save a lot of time if she doesn't like my voice or something. I arrange the date and get their number first. Then I say "Is it alright if I call you real quick? It'd be nice to hear you a little before we meet" Then they just ghost me. Why is this such a dealbreaker?

Why do a phone call you might ask? One time I had a date where I could tell within the first few seconds that something wrong. If I hadn't noticed something wrong and been so direct about it she would have gone through with the whole date just because she's too shy to leave. I asked what's wrong and she said it's my voice. That's fine some people don't mind my voice. I just think we need to all save ourselves some time and do a 5 minute call before meeting. And figure out logistics in 30 seconds over the phone rather than texting for days.

The point is there is an arbitrary and incorrect social norm against calling before a date. The world would be a better place if we break this social norm. But I am losing dates by not conforming to society.
