“Transmisandry”

The stories I've read about the experiences of transmen is that once they start passing and move to new social circles, where everyone has only known them as men, is that they get treated the same as the bottom 80% of men do. The complaints they have about how they're treated are the exact same things most guys deal with. The difference tends to be people have their kid gloves on if they think you're trans, whereas treating men like crap is perfectly fine. So surprise surprise, when you pass as a man, you get treated like one.

Being a normal (bottom 80% guy) makes sense, they're normally shorter, less muscular, less confident, less stoic, less assertive, etc. It's like they were expecting the experiences of a top 5% guy. Just another way the apex fallacy manifests itself.

Maybe coming up with a new oppression word is just a force of habit for being able to play the victim card as a woman and then as a trans rather than face the truth that it's just how the majority of men are treated. If you really wanted to be a man and be treated like one, then grats -- you did it and get treated like shit just like the rest of us now.

I think a good part of it is the same as when women take everything as misogyny because they believe that everything happens to them simply because they're a woman and there's no other possible reason...

I don't believe in the oppression olympics thing we have going on in our culture. I *do* believe that having a certain degree of empathy for what other people might be dealing with is a good thing. Right now, there's a cultural focus on the struggles of trans people, and a cultural dismissal of the struggles of men. I think it can only be seen as a good thing for men when trans men talk about the struggles they are facing as men.

I'd only call it trans misandry if the situation is specific to being a trans man, but I definitely think the term should get pushed more often.

Some people really dislike it because obviously misandry can't be real so when it happens to a trans man, it has to be called transandrophobia (and ofc it's transandro-phobia rather than trans-androphobia).

That being said, these discussions are often framed as part of a larger trend of saying "we hate all men bc they're oppressors, except for trans men." However, the implications of that are just too obvious to say out loud, so this is actually a great opportunity to call out transphobia within the feminist movement.

There have been several women over the decades who have either lived as a man (Norah Vincent) or who “transitioned”, as it were (you can find examples on YouTube) who generally find that life is harder and lonelier as a man.

If I’m charitable for a moment, if you’re a woman who wishes to become a man (socially), gets that wish and then finds life to be tougher, I can see why she might think it’s due to being trans, especially if she’s bought into the whole “male privilege” bull.

That said, I don’t think FTM individuals suffer the same societal challenges as MTF, mostly because I think the former is usually easier to pull off in a convincing way, but also because people care less about men generally.

My opinion in short - I don’t think trans misandry is real, it’s just that the individual in question is seeing misandry as it really is for the first time combined with societal indifference.

This term is absolutely wrong lol. You're experiencing misandry yet you put trans in front of the term just to appear valid in front of people who you know are sensitive to lgbt and women's issues, but not men's.

Just own it. You call yourself a man ? Then it's misandry, not whatever the fuck « transmisandry » is.

They need to make their own space or make it an issue well known in their established lgbt whatever symbols they added now.

I don’t recognize trans men as men, but their experiences “living as men” are a great learning opportunity to understand the differences in how different genders are treated.

I think this sub should focus on men-men's rights first and handle trans men later. I think there are a few billion more men-men than trans out there.

i read and follow a lot trans discussions and spaces, as far as i can see trans men do not standup against feminism and their lies which is a big issue from a mens rights point of view. feminism has been the biggest tool for spreading misandry for the past few decades so we cannot go further without addressing that

If gender is a social construct then wouldn’t transmisandry just be misandry ?

Is this their way of just ignoring misandry experienced by biological males?

I’m all for people living their truth and bodily autonomy and people being able to make their own decisions so I support trans rights but I really wish they’d address (biological) men’s rights too.

The discussion of trans people on this sub is so weird. Comments willing to ward off potential allies because someone’s existence not being compatible with their worldview are getting more upvotes than the post asking for discussion. Surely we can have some sympathy for others when we’re asking for sympathy from others? Would you all be fine with someone using pseudoscientific gender essentialism to dismiss our issues as nonexistent and simply the consequences of being men? Of course xx and xy chromosomes and all that are basic biology, but equations without variables and factorials are basic math. There is so much more beyond the basics and with a movement such as men’s rights, advocacy everyone we can get, especially people that would be considered the base beneficiaries of a men’s rights movement. We’ll never get anywhere by just being crabs in a bucket.

So clearly trans people have vastly diffrent life expirences than men but they come to expirence a lot of things men expirece. with words like those it depends on the context. I see no harm in it aslong as misandry is not being attributed to transphobia instead.

To be clear though they do typically think cis men oppress cis women, they just often don’t think trans men oppress trans women. But their beliefs get compared to men’s rights activism a lot so I wanted to see how much you think those align.
