I could never stomach the thought of looking into her boyfriends, even tho I knew I should do it because my kids were around him. I just couldnt bring myself to read all about Johnny Handsome and his background. If you can do it, ya its a good idea.

Are you already divorced? If the answer is yes why waste your money? If you had kids under 12 and we're still in the divorce process I would do it. But in your situation with adult boys and what I assume is at least a 3 year divorce or separation, why do you feel the need? Is your x a crazy drug user who you are worried about having a criminal with her and your boys? I would not waste my money if I was in your situation.

Always, always do a background check on anyone who will be around your kids, especially a male living with them.

All you need is his name, date of birth and $20 to do a national crime search.

And if he does have any criminal records yes you can indeed use that to get full custody if he will be residing there depending on what charges they have. Probably mute since your boy is almost an adult, but better safe than sorry.

Doesn’t matter what comes up on the background check because you have no recourse. Waste of time, money, and brainpower.

A 17 year old male is pretty low risk for anything that would concern you from a background check…. It would be petty and worthless at this point.

With a 17 year old it does not make that much sense. Just ask the ex for the last name and check the sex offender list.
