Hey guys, so I’m a Michigan resident and a 29 year old father of 2 daughter (3 and 6). The wife and I have both agreed to call it quits, after already saving the marriage once a year ago. I’m going to list some facts and just wondering if anyone can give me advice, opinions, or even reassure me that things will be okay.

  • I bring in about $5300 after taxes and she brings in roughly $3000 after taxes.

  • We both agreed to 50/50 custody

  • We live in a home that I probably want to stay in (family are neighbors) and Ide owe her 30k-40k to stay there. But mortgage is only $950 with a small interest rate. That is, if she doesn’t fight me to keep it.

  • We are going to have to stay in the home together until this is over, as she has nowhere else to go, and I’m not letting her ruin the house by letting her be there on her own. We are going to try to keep things cordial, but last time( she went a little off the wall).

  • After the first almost divorce, she signed a post nup, protecting my pension, 401k, and stocks.

  • We don’t have much “stuff”, other than our cars. Hers is paid off, I owe roughly 20k on mine. I’m a mechanic, so I have quite a bit of tools that she may or may not go after and that terrifies me.

  • We have probably 45K in debt together not including mortgage) via loans and credit card plus the car and pay roughly 1200 a month in all those. $250 of that is my school payment which I know won’t get split, as it was mine before the marriage.

  • My attorney will be approx 5-6k all said and done.

  • Last year, she went for alimony, but got turned down because we were only married 5 years. I don’t know if another year makes a difference and now I’ll have to?

Side note: can anybody estimate my child support?
