Similar situation. She was rushing me all summer to get some paperwork in. As soon as I did so about 6 weeks ago, suddenly the brakes are on.

That's because the lawyer sent her the state calculated Child Care & Support numbers and it's about half of what I'm paying now. ($450 instead of $800). I think she's dragging it out for the extra few hundred as long as possible.

My stbx has been going slow about everything. Even changing accounts over. She initiated and I wrote up most of our agreement. Now I'm waiting on that agreement to be officially written up. She (and I) want it to be amicable. Good lord, move a bit faster!

She wanted me out right away and I haven't moved and won't until this shit is done and everything divided.

why did you hire a "she"?

I think this is an object lesson in hiring the RIGHT Attorney, go around and find a new attorney that's a HE and tell HIM you want movement on this case

many attorneys will sit there if you let them. Get them to send over documents with DEADLINES, deadlines missed assume they agreed and on to the next step EASY

Get this sh$t done, bro. My ex initiated, but i had to do everything to get it done. You comment that you are in no rush. Are you nuts? She can go out and rack up credit card debt on joint accounts. She likely has another man on the hook and has you there in case plan A,B,C don't work out. Your lawyer sucks if that's his/her answer.

And mid October might as well be see you in 2025, I remember around this time last year we got booked for mediation didn't end up happening until January and that was private

My STBXW is also dragging her feet - so I moved to another part of the state and am moving on with my life. And the irony is that she is the one that started it and keen to get it finished so she can move to a better location, but she has never understood processes or legal proceedings.

I feel ya. In my case as well, she drug her feet on the whole process, start to finish, on the divorce she wanted and started. Was finalized in April. Our retirement accounts remain undivided because she hasn't signed/approved the paperwork yet. Literally waiting on her and it's done. Over 6 months.

I'm convinced its a power play. Meant to keep me hanging and keep some control over me. I'm not gonna let her do it, and you shouldn't either. Do your thing, keep at it, and do what you are in control of doing, don't worry about what you can't, which is her.
