I find that exceptionally hard to believe. Men may get into more accidents, but that's not the same as causing them. A poorly-timed lane change caused by someone driving the speed limit in the left lane, coupled with the younger generation's inexplicable fear of turn signals, and boom!

At least in America, on a per mile basis (men drive 30% more than women, so any analysis of raw accident numbers is biased) , women cause more accidents, but the ones men do cause are more severe. Surely this researcher knows that, right?

In the US way over a third of all jobs are driving jobs (delivery, taxi, trucking, bus, etc.). I imagine it's similar in Germany.

This researcher clearly didn't research employment statistics before opening their mouth. 😒

I actually don't mind acknowledging the differences between the sexes and treating them differently.

But no being selective. If something like this went through we'd have to remove women's right to vote and also draw welfare. Because they are a net drain on the economy.

More men are the cause of industrial accidents than women, so by this logic, men should be banned from working. Also more men kill civilians during war, so men should be banned from the armed forces. Net, men should just be keyboard pounders while women do the things where death and injury result.

I had a very similar conversation with my mother of how she thought men should get their drivers license at 20 instead of 18 like it is in my country… but she said that would be discrimination so at least she was self aware… but to me… like the gender is not really what makes someone reckless or not… it’s about their upbringing a lot of the times… just like how there are plenty of reckless men who probably shouldn’t have driver’s licenses there are just as many men who are not reckless and should have their drivers licenses… like to me it’s not connected to gender…. Being male doesn’t make you immature or reckless- at least to me as a woman…

This has been discussed in Norwegian media as well because we have the same statistics. It is a real issue, unfortunately.

The issue itself isn't discriminatory. This is real men needlessly dying preventable deaths.

There are several solutions, and some of those are discriminatory. Like delaying men from taking their licences. Well over 10 years ago in Norway, we just implemented an extensive and obligatory traffic course that goes through the foundations of being a driver and the dangers involved. You have to complete it before you're allowed to start driving lessons.

This is one solution that isn't discriminatory because it involves both girls and boys, but it also better prepares boys to be responsible drivers.

We shouldn't ignore this issue just because people are coming up with bad solutions. Let's just do better.

I understand that it looks discriminatory but his opinion is based on science and the delay in maturity of the males that are capable to control himself better after a certain age, women are better at this. Great minds of this age spoke about this issues and proposed different solutions to different problems.

Legally, I would say: "Good luck with that!" Because it will open the Pandora Box, maybe we also should discuss the mothers getting the children after divorce when we know that they have more negative emotions that impacts child development....so if we use science, we should use it in all places, just to be fair.

So first, take a step back. This is data driven. I'm not saying I agree that men should not be allowed to drive, but it is actually a fact that men in that age group do cause more traffic fatalities. Does that mean we should restrict them from driving? Probably not, but maybe more education and awareness would help.

Men are involved in 362% more fatal accidents than women (adjusted for number of licensed drivers). It's why men in that age group also pay more for insurance.

Edit: Honestly my reaction from that is less being concerned about discrimination and more how can we help keep young men from killing themselves in cars?
