i bailed on my lawyer after about 45-60 days because nothing was happening and her lawyer said her and i could not negotiate without my lawyer involved and i wanted it to be over asap. i hated the waiting.

i got the feeling he was sand bagging to make money AND his paralegal chick, who was hot, was hitting me when i was at the office a couple times. that felt like a set up to keep me on board.

so shitcanned him and negotiated myself with her and her lawyer.

i knew what i was willing to pay for alimony. all the other splitting of shit details where all ready worked out.

cost me about $1500 initially and got done in about 3 months.

Lawyers like this back and forth. As soon as the retainer is signed, they charge for every communication with them, emails, texts, and phone calls all get charged back against the retainer.

You don't want this to be your final co-parenting schedule. You need some weekend time to yourself.

Sounds exactly like my situation the ex refuses to settle even tho judge gave us 50/50 temp and next court date is in February, her lawyers backed off those games yours does because she can't pay them anymore just waiting till she settles now or we go to trial, just sit back and watch yourself be cautious and you're good to go you have majority parenting time in this schedule let her play games you're going to win.

Mine took 2 years. I also paid for my ex's legal fees as well as temporary child support and alimony.

One thing I wish I did NOT do - was respond to each of her lawyers letters, with a letter from my lawyer. It's a waste of time and money.

If you have a trial date and know what you want (and you are reasonably assured you'll get it in a trial) - instruct your lawyer to stop responding to your ex's lawyers letters. And that you'll just wait for the trial.

More than likely - the lawyers will start to actually negotiate (and put pressure on her) to settle the day before the trial. That's what happened in my divorce anyways.
