In California they have the death penalty for falsely accusing someone of a crime when the accused is put to death because of the false accusation. (penal code section 128)

I think it should be a registered sex offense itself and should receive the same punishment the falsely accused would have faced.

Five years in jail should be the minimum for a false accusation. If it involves an elaborate scheme like the Trevor Bauer case, the accuser should be jailed for life.

Restitution should be proportional to the damage. If a guy spends tens of thousands of dollars on lawyers to clear his name, the accuser should at minimum have to pay for that.

Based on the literal meaning of sex offense, a woman who makes a false accusation of rape or SA should be considered a sex offense. However it isn't because lawyers love to twist words. Lawmakers are the same way.

I think it would be enough to charge them to pay vast amounts of money, a public statement that they have lied and having their accountability unrepairably ruined in court so that when any future case arises nothing will happen without any 100% proof of the claim.

There are already punishments all laid out in all countries for this; they just aren't called the False Accusation Act. The false accuser has committed:

liable
slander
false imprisonment
assault (the police on their behalf)
conspiracy to pervert the course of justice
fraud

I'm sure a competent lawyer could come up with a bunch of additions. Add them up and it could be 40 or more years.

I think it depends on how badly the accusation harmed the victim.

If it were up to me I would introduce a list similar to the sex offenders register something like the "weaponised sex crime" register And any one caught lying without a doubt would be put on it as bare minimum.

If the victim actually done jail time before the truth came out the perpetrator would serve the same sentence the victim would be serving.

Also at bare minimum the false accuser would be forced to make a mandatory public apology via social media or something other platform

#1 and #3. I don't know about #2 since I don't think that lying about a sexual crime is the same as actually committing one. I do think that some kind of registry or record for false accusers would be a good idea though. I think there used to be a website for that kind of thing but I don't know what happened to it. They called false accusers "fictims" (false victims).
