It’s a bit frustrating that it takes a trans identifying person for the issue of misandry to be taken seriously. I like that some of the comments are embracing of the notion, but it’s so frustrating that we have been saying this for YEARS.

The criticism of feminism is valid, but I don’t enjoy the authors suggestion that it plays a useful role in the discussion. When it comes to misandry, there isn’t anything useful that feminist theory can add.

Disparities are useful for that— you can make a compelling case that society has a problem with women when you, for instance, point out that the median income for women is (yes, still, today!) about 75% of the median income for men.

Haven't gotten very far, but this is not a great start if the author is propping up this nonsense. Hopefully it gets better.

It was painful to read the mental gymnastics of trying to validate feminism while pointing out how feminists treat them as a man. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to be hated from so many directions while still holding onto the very ideology that hates you.

I saw no indication that this person passes so well as a man that they have ever experienced anyone treating them as one by default. They have experienced being seen as a transman, which is entirely different, as a somewhat protected group. Protected by being recognized as a marginalized population. Rather than having the experience of having a significant part of the weight of history placed none too gently upon their shoulders nearly from birth.

I appreciate whatever sympathy he expresses for cis men, but where were all of them when they still presented as women??

It's like being rich and not really caring about the poor, until you lose your money then become a "poverty advocate" blogging from the car you sleep in.

There's no bigger redpill for women than living like a man. Norah Vincent was brave enough to try it and she ended up checking into a mental institution when it was over. The experience contradicted everything feminists claimed to be true. Wish she was still here with us today.

This wasn't a feminist sub the last time I checked.

Also, this person doesn't experience their gender the same way a straight biological male does, therefore they do not experience their needs being invalidated and their voice not listened to in the same way. They write about misandry because they've heard men have a problem with it, so that makes them "fit better". It's a totally different box of biscuits.

Plus, people like this will always be pushing a feminist agenda.

There is a r/menslib subreddit, but it's mostly an effort to do triage and divert boys away from the manosphere, so-- knowing how online comments sections tend to go when boys get to venting

— tells you all you need to know. We're not "venting boys", we're real men advocating for real problems of ours, which will forever be invisible to people like that.

I think these are not the allies we need or deserve.
