Hey y’all, recently I got out of a relationship and I realized I hate getting out of my comfort zone, it’s absolutely killing me. I’m a 6’2, athletic and (Imo) attractive 22 y/o guy so every once in a while I get luck while I’m out at a bar or club and have a girl I like approach me. When this happens, I find it very easy to keep a good conversation going, physically escalate fairly quickly, go for the kiss, etc etc. however that only happens every once in a while and I want to be able to actually go out and be the one to talk to girls first.

For some reason, any time I enter a bar/club by myself I am always washed over with anxiety and almost freeze. Not only can I not talk to the girls, I can barely strike up a conversation even with the dudes in there. When I’m with friends, I’m a lot more comfortable, however I get comfortable to the point that I don’t even want to talk to other people anymore (excuses, I know). What is something that helped y’all get over that approach anxiety? I feel almost physically restrained any time I want to go up to any strangers as much as I wish I could “just man up and go talk”. One of my main issues with these sorts of settings is that a lot of times the girls are with 1 or more friends and I don’t know how to navigate just walking up by myself and keeping them all entertained.
