Ask questions. Ask a million. If they’re talking about a subject you don’t know, ask a billion questions about that. Show some interest! You’re surrounded by girls and you’re the only guy there. If you don’t speak up, why would anyone pay attention to you? Show you’re interested in them, genuine interest!

And have fun with it! Crack jokes! Don’t sit there quiet like your friend dragged you to this. Do these and you’ll do great 👍

If you feel "emasculated," then you likely have some self esteem issues. I could have a great time with that kind of company provided there wasn't loud music drowning out the conversation. Worry less about picking up women and try to enjoy getting to know new people.

If you can't "relate to the conversation," then ask questions. Put down the beer and open your ears to what others in the group are talking about. Do you just give up when you don't understand things? It was probably a nice change of pace from your usual routine. Most guys don't get to hang out with a bunch of ladies and potentially gain new friendships on the spot like that.

Your problem was your mindset. I've been in this situation before and think "how awesome is it to be out surrounded by all these beautiful and interesting women". Talk to them and take an interest. They will appreciate the effort and generally are extra nice because they understand it's scary being the only one of your gender there. I wouldn't go into a situation like this trying to pick anyone up, just be good vibes and if you seem confident and fun- your friend's friends will be hitting her up asking for your dets. It sounds like she was trying to be a wingwoman for you.

Every time you experience something like this look at it as an opportunity to level up your social skills. You’re not good in these situations. No big deal. Try to think of what you could have done differently, and next time try some of them out. Seek out more situations just like this again so you can practice and improve.

It’s just social skills and you just need practice. That’s it.

First ten minutes are important. When 20 minute pass its kind of over right. Speaking up after that time feels weird. So you should pep yourself up on your way to the event and encourage yourself that you will be into it from the first moment.
