I’m new to this particular thread. I’m a healthy 65 yo professional whose divorce was finalized about 2 months ago. I moved out of our house about 2.5 years ago. No real drama with my ex. We were married over 33 years but truth be told the passion just wasn’t there for last 15 or so years. We stuck together for sake of our children. Never really fought but more importantly we never learned how to really communicate our feelings, goals, and desires. We did a lot of talking but mostly about superficial stuff.

About a year ago I signed up with Match, Bumble, and eHarmony and am definitely not impressed with the quality of women there. The vast majority of women in their 50s and 60s who post on those sites don’t really have a good idea why they’re there. Seems like they’re pumping themselves up regaling us with their world wide travels, going to plays, or hanging out with their dozens of girlfriends. Or listing dozens of demands they insist guys must meet.

I’ve texted with about 10 women over past 10 or so months and have gone out on exactly one date. One woman blew me off when we agreed to speak on phone and another simply disappeared after I suggested we talk over phone after we texted a few times.

I’m a very successful guy, having written three books. I take my health seriously. I consider myself well rounded across multiple topics.

The one thing I don’t get though is their politics. I’m a conservative and made that clear in my bios but liberals still reach out to me. And those women who say they’re apolitical, independent, or moderate are for the most part Trump haters. A couple of women couldn’t possibly fathom why I’m a Republican but I told them I have a live and let live attitude. And I realized that I simply can’t chance going out with a woman who doesn’t specifically state she’s a conservative.

Seems like most of these women have some pretty significant hangups and aren’t quite over their ex’s.

What are better dating sites for guys my age to consider where the women are less pretentious and more grounded? Or is this wishful thinking?
