I feel like misogyny has been weaponized by some people on the left. Like I feel like any time you criticize or disagree with a women on the left, you are automatically labeled a misogynist

I always understood misogyny to mean the negative ideas that people have about women, and the unfair effects those ideas cause for many people. I always thought it was a worthwhile pursuit to be on guard against these ideas because we are all conditioned to have them and they do obviously cause some serious harm.

Naturally, then, I thought misandry would mean the negative ideas we have about men/males, which we are also conditioned to have and which also cause harm? Noooo. I’ve been screamed at for daring to suggest that.

I wish feminists weren’t so resistant to the existence of a word that parallels misogyny when it couldn’t be more clear these ideas exist and cause harm. Like, for example, my mother cutting off a “useless, weird” part of my dick at birth and almost nobody in society caring that I have a problem with that.

It's because we have barely even scratched the surface of what's considered misandry and how all the ways traditional masculinity can backfire on men but ironically because of A combination of the women a wonderful effect and how men have the opposite bias is probably why our society doesn't even question Misandry because it's basically expected.

Think about it it's Miss Andrus to expect men as a class to basically be self sacrificing and to be put on some type of hamster wheel of constantly performing but society gets real benefit from that If half of the men on earth disappeared in 24 hours you can say goodbye to our electricity infrastructure roads trucks driving material and food across the country etc

If all men stop doing what's perceived to be their duty as men then society would collapse but it probably would also send a message to society because being a man feels like a very thankless job in the modern world

We are all equal on paper and in theory a man can live as he want but every man who's lived in the modern age knows that he still ironically expected to act like his 1950s counterpart without getting those 1950s benefits

Our women will scream to the heavens that they are equal and can make their own money yet simultaneously still expect you to make more money to still be a high earning person to be aceo to go after a useless degree you don't even like all to impress that woman are to be seen good enough as a mate to have a family but look at our grandparents generation ironically compared to that

In 1970 my grandfather at twenty years old had the American dream and he was a farm boy with just a high school education He already had a wife and two kids a house a car etc

Young men face a social threat nowadays because they're getting combated by so many contradictory narratives

You can't be overly aggressive but if you act normal or soft you're seen as unattractive

If you desire to go out and make money and get high status you're seen as toxic but if you are normal most people will ignore you because you're seen as normal

Young men born in the last couple of decades are still beholden to 1950s expectations but our women are not our girls can be a stay at home wife or CEO And there's really no pushback like no man has ever been turned off by a woman who decided to be an office worker versus a waitress

You can best believe a female office worker would not even consider a male waiter as a partner

Well yea that's the point that's how you get the population to hate each other and to not go after the people who are actively killing us and our planet. You tell one group of people how the other group is taking things or oppressing them same thing how right wingers like to say that immigrants are taking the Jobs and also dont want to work.

The same thing they do with "Progressive" spaces they fake statistics to make men look like babarians and oppressors while at the same time make women look like noble beings who are being oppressed by men if you look in feminist spaces you will see how they talk about living like you have a boot on your neck while also not being able to tell me what has to change or in which way men have it so much better, no if you should tell them that men are doing worse many will show there supremacist thinking by saying women are getting ahead of men even though they are being oppressed or that the oppressing system is back firing.

So obviously its ok to be rude to men because they are the oppressors so its justified.

That's how the rich stay in power they make fake enemies and people to blame so the working class has something to work against.

The feminist movement is very strong in western countries even though they have more rights and have more support programs and live longer but they still talk about oppression because most rich people are men and of course they do as this helps the ruling class not only are more people working they also see being rich as the goal and not to take the power away from the rich.

A reason why i never say patriarchy the problem is not who is on top its that the people on top have so much power.

Edit: maybe i did go a bit of topic but thats why misandry is seen as not important because the rich try actively that progressive spaces see men as the culprit and not the Ruling class

Misandry will never be taken seriously because there's an inherent social bias against men, and people simply do not value men's feelings, consent and lives.

Even your first example, "a man being a creep towards women", is generally viewed through the lens of women's inherent biases and hostility towards men or male heterosexuality. A man who looks at a woman a bit too long would be viewed as a creep by women, and therefore society, but that is not an objective statement. It has far more to do with how women react to male attention, or how they might be negatively charged/trained against male attention, than that man doing something objectively wrong. You can also know it's subjective because women wouldn't have that kind of vitriolic response to another woman looking at them in the same way. It is inherently a product of misandry but people do not see it or just accept it blindly. This is because there is already an inherent bias in the way we view, judge and treat men.

Women don't think misandry is a big deal because they don't suffer from it. Men don't think misandry is a big deal because they have never been taught to defend themselves from women, or they are heavily manipulated into tolerating the misandry because "that's just being a good man" or that's what a "real man" would do. Often they just tolerate it because they want to get laid and their options are limited, which also has a lot to do with men being expected to pursue.

Misandry is not taken seriously because misandry is so common and normalized that people simply do not recognize it as misandry. They just see it as the norm or the status quo. They're just not used to pointing it out, even when it's blatantly obvious. Misandry is not taken seriously because, at the end of the day, we live in a world that prioritizes and pedestalizes women first and foremost. It is a gynarchy, not a patriarchy.

I've been arguing this for years. Misandry appears to be a much smaller problem than misogyny because misandry has been subjected to isolated demands for rigor, so that everything that should be considered an example of misandry can be appropriated into misogyny instead.

Male-only conscription should be considered the definitive example of systemic misandry. Governments around the world have decided that if citizen's lives need to be spent for national security, those lives should be male, because men are inherently less valuable than women. That doesn't count because those policies were written by men, it's only misandry if it's women doing it to men. It's actually misandry because women are seen as weaker than men, even though women are seen as strong enough to serve voluntarily but not disposable enough to draft involuntarily.

But when female politicians pass policies that hurt women, there's absolutely no issue with calling that misogyny. Misandry can only be done to men by women, but women can do misogyny to each other, and men can do misogyny to each other too. As long as gender is relevant in any way, it can be misogyny.

Even where they do make concessions, they downplay the seriousness. They allow women saying mean things about men on the internet to be labeled as misandry, but it's not serious because it just hurts feelings. But men saying mean things about women on the internet is a serious threat that governments need to created taskforces to deal with.

All of the rules can be bent or broken as needed to come to the conclusion that misogyny is a serious problem and misandry isn't.

Honestly, I feel like there are many ways to widened the definition of Misandry or at least widen the criteria behind Misandry. There are plenty of Feminists, politicians, women, men, conservatives, etc etc. that are misandrists. We need to make sure their misandry is properly called out.

Many things are considered misogynistic. while the only things that are considered misandry are negative generalizations about men and having Valerie Solanas levels of hatred for men.

Ive noticed that when it comes to discussing bigotry against certain groups (in my experience men, white people, jewish people, and many asian people are probably the primary groups i notice this happening with), if the bigotry in question hadnt amounted to "I fucking hate everyone in that group and want them all to die slow", a lot of people altogether fail to recognize or outright refuse to acknowledge the bigotry even existing at all.

See also how broadly femicide is defined beyond what is supposed to be "murder with misogyny." Even things like the male killer of a woman having been her partner, or simply killing her with very savage violence with wounds focused on sexualized body parts, are seen as gendered situations that mean that it was a femicide.

However, if a man is killed because he was the one expected to confront a burglar during a break-in, no one says that is masculicide, even though his gender is the very reason he was expected to put himself in harm's way.
