Hygiene is the bare minimum. Its a given that you should sort that out. But that alone won't make a noticeable difference in your dating life.

You also need the more important stuff of learning how to flirt, getting girls comfortable with you, the appropriate times to touch them, learning how to read social cues, learning how to playfully challenge them and get the happily doing stuff for you, etc.

Also, who uses pickup lines in 2026? Pretty sure the majority of guys here already forgot about that 10 years before you put up this post.

keep fingernails low, brush teeth, use tongue scraper, maintain and groom my facial hair, keep a steady skin routine, trim the pubes and ear/nose hairs, smell nice. basic things that i do for ME.

It's tough because I have a friend who really went downhill and his teeth are just almost pure yellow now and he doesn't really do anything about it. It's a huge turn off for women and I wish he would fix it :(

My wife is keen on oral health. she told me that she'd never date anyone with bad teeth or bad breath. a few other tips for the gentlemen. Colgate makes a Pro Series with 10% Hydrogen Peroxide mixed in. It will make your teeth more sensitive, however it will make your smile whiter. And then for the sensitive aspect, i use Sensodyne to negate the effects of the teeth whitening and i rotate between the two. Never thought I'd be cycling toothpastes, but here we are. Another thing. Xylitol gum! Xylitol has a unique property which doesn't allow bad bacteria to flourish in your mouth. Chew it often and if you eat right, your saliva can actually reminerilize your teeth

As a woman, one of the first things I notice about a man’s appearance is his teeth and hands. Teeth don’t need to be perfectly straight or anything and I don’t mind if your hands are calloused or cut or bruised from working with your hands (if you do), but I notice if someone doesn’t clean under or cut their nails and if their gums are inflamed/teeth are yellow. If I can see yellowed teeth, inflamed gums, and dirt under someone’s jagged nails, the first impression is going to be a lot less positive because it shows me that someone doesn’t put time into self-care/hygiene/personal maintenance.

I’m always surprised by how many people have terrible breath. This is caused by decomposing food in your mouth. Brush and floss 3x a day. Drink lots of water and chew sugar minty gum. It’s not that hard.
