FILE NOW! The feedback is unanimous and we are educated. We have been through this. You can always back out but go get a lawyer, get the papers, get her served and then she where she stands. Chances are she is doing all that now anyway.

Dude, if someone says they want a “trial separation,” their mind is usually already halfway out the door. I know that’s hard to hear when you’re in the middle of it, but you also have to have some respect for yourself and the man you are.
My EXW dragged her feet too and eventually I got so mentally exhausted dealing with it that I hired an attorney and honestly made out way better than I expected once everything was finalized. Looking back, I think she just wanted it done quickly so she could move on with her own life.
One thing I promised myself after all of it: in any future relationship, if someone says they “need a break” or “need separation,” I’m out. I’m not going to beg someone to stay, convince them to love me, or sit around while they figure out if they want me in their life. That’s a choice they make every single day.
And I don’t know about you, but I’m never again going to work on a marriage or relationship with someone who clearly doesn’t want to be there.

The longer you wait the more it will cost you financially. The divorce will take at least 1-2yrs so I would file asap and if miraculously things change you end the divorce proceedings. Dont be fooled. Women buy time, my divorce is going on 4yrs and I wish I filed sooner because she is dragging it out forever and won’t leave and start a new life.

Others have already posted, but if you’ve gotten to a separation, you’re headed for divorce. Maybe at the start she was telling herself it was a trial, but the energy it takes to unsettle the inertia of a 25-year marriage has a way of carrying itself forward.

Research shows that if there is not progression to reconciliation by around the 4 month mark then it gets less and less likely after that.
