Any of you guys like to work out and stay fit? It's a big part of my life. I participate in crossfit and hiking competitions. This year, I did a 40 mile hike in one day and I have a 50 miler scheduled. My personal goal is to get to between 10-12% bodyfat and I'm over 50. Anyone that has ever seriously tried to do this quickly realizes that most men will never touch 12% bodyfat- probably 99% plus... This despite it being a relatively simple process. My list of how to get there would look something like this: 1. prioritize protein, 2. no snacking in between meals, 3. eat in a calory deficit, .4. lift weights a few times per week, 5. get 10-12k steps per day, 6. avoid all processed foods, 7. get 7 or more hours of sleep per day. But most people, even those that know how to do it, will not do it.

Now, let's talk about family court. In the same way, most men will not prevail in family court. The process is a little more complicated, but not much. My list of how to prevail would look something like this: 1. do not move out of the marital home, 2. have ironclad documentation that can't be refuted of your involvement with your child's medical providers, extra curricular activities, and school, 3. if your wife doesn't work, get her working full time, 4. do not give your wife anything of value without getting something of equal value or greater in return, 5. do not settle your case unless you get 183 overnights with your child, no alimony, and either exclusive use of the marital home, or the home sold before the papers are signed, 6. manage your legal expenses while running up your exes legal expenses, and 7. restrict your exes access to money as much as possible, 8. if you lose, wait 1 year and file again.

Much like staying fit, it's going to be easier for some than others. It's going to be considerably easier for a 20 year old to get to 12% bodyfat than a 50 year old. Just like it's going to be easier for a Dad that lives in FL to get 50/50 custody than a Dad that lives in WA or MA. But here is the important thing, it can be done either way.

But the sad reality is that most men don't want to go through the level of effort and pain required to do it.

So here is the question: what about you? Do you want to be like just about every other man, or do you want to win? Winning is simple and doable, but it is not easy. Food for thought for the day.
