Also, if you really weren't insecure about your car, you very likely wouldn't have posted about it. I'm still a noob here so take what I have to say with a grain of salt.

I'd say, hell man, if it makes you appear sexier overall to have a better car, get the car (if you can afford it, I mean)

Though part me of thinks that you should get a new car only because YOU want one, not because some woman or women made you feel insecure about not having a nice car.

I used to drive around in a purple 98 dodge caravan. Felt like such a tool pulling up to the gym, or a red light in that POS.

But my wife and I just brought a brand new Spark. Fancy? Not at all, but she loves it, I love it, and it's miles away from driving an 18 year old beater. Plus, it shows that I at least have a little bit of money, more than a 98 caravan could display anyway...

Another chick wouldn't eye a dude in a corvette but would fuck a guy on the tailgate of his 20 year old $3K 4runner that had seen some mud recently, ironically the same guy could own both and appeal to different women based on what he was driving that week. The real theme here is to have a car and be fuckable. On Match and Plenty of Fish the question "own a car" is yes or no...not the make and model. If I had a sedan then fucking in the backseat on the way to IKEA would be a part of that. If I had a truck then tailgating at the game would be a part of that. I'm the common denominator.

And when they get in the car, you can tell they're over compensating for their initial attitude - oh wow blimblamp, your car is so clean, it smells like a new car! A tone of voice that was way too enthusiastic for discussing a stranger's car's cleanliness. I could tell that they felt like I was insecure about my car when frankly I have never given a shit about it not being a fancy car.

The real take away is that these bitch-fest loving, CC riding, sex and the city women deferred to your frame about your car, at least to your face, and let's be real here, that is a win. When I say car guy, I don't mean I wash and wax it like she is my baby. I mean spending upwards of 100k building, buying racing cars at various stages of my life. Think what 100k would do compunded and invested in the market.

Guess what, I don't fucking care. I like building things, I like racing, it is my outlet and when this life is done it is a cost I am willing to absorb for my happiness. Want to have fun hobbby, find a racetrack to hang out at. I have had cars so loud that dates couldn't speak to me when taking them out. So unless you are a car guy, use it as transportation and save the funds to do things you really want to do.

I don't know how popular this opinion may be, but I love my new gas guzzling pickup. 4 doors and could fit 3 kids in the back and technically 6 people total, the bed is good for coolers and fishing rods and as a lunch table when traveling outdoors.

But it's always been my personality to like loud V8's, milage be damned. I've driven an old beat up and quiet V8 and it's just not the same good feeling getting in. It's not that I need it to be confident but it's just nice. It's my way of treating myself for the hard work I do and decent money I make.

I've been too deep in the financial obsessiveness world and it lowers your SMV when you're scrooge mc frugal pants. I've made a mindset shift recently where you don't have to sacrifice enjoying your money now yet can still be financially intelligent. Can't take it with you when you die.

The way I made an unpractical decision practical was by being 2 years used, which lowered price from 35k MSRP to 25. And I understand I'm owning this for the long term. Helps that I structured my living situation to be about 5 min drive from work. Gas is cheaper here too.

It's like a nice pair of jeans. It won't get you laid but can help you feel boss. I know I bought nice things for myself when I was dating around but don't know why I stopped when I got married. MRP and WISNIFG helped me not feel like a bad father and husband for treating myself well.

Plus, you know the cliche that women keep their rooms clean but men keep their cars clean? A man picking up a girl on a date will do better with a clean and well put together look, and that doubles for the car too. It can put a tiny bit of dread that way when your woman knows this.

Plus I believe she gets a little wet when the engine and exhaust roar when I gun it. Though I'm probably delusional and she just likes my irrational confidence. Either way.

It's all about how you own a car. If you're MO is rugged burly man, having a beat up v8 pickup fits. If you're a thrill seeker, even a cheap motorcycle fits. If you're a starving artist or new startup, a funky Prius makes sense.

I'm a millionaire with a tiny Mazda and play it off with a IDGaF and I need a car I need to be able to beat up when I run out for emergencies. People don't question it and If they ever do I respond "this lil baby here gets me across town in rush hour in 20 minutes. No car can beat that!"
