So I am a newbie MRP guy- probably a year or so. Have been learning and ton and lurking here quite a bit. My wife is responding well to my leadership, I've become heavily involved in the kids activities and engaging in light dread, I have overcome my butthurt over initiating, I redid my wardrobe, the muscles are popping and the females are noticing. I'm the prize. We're still nowhere near where I believe we can and should be, so I will continue to put in the work- I have a long way to go too. There is no finish line.

With that as background, this situation just fell in my lap in the past 48 hours. My wife's friend; lets call her D, just found out her husband of 13 years has been cheating on her for at least the past 2 months (and possibly more). They have been together since college- inseparable- never seen one without the other. One of those deals. The husband; lets call him A, is not a PUA in any way, shape, or form. Good looking guy- works out like a savage. Highly engaged and engaging; recognized in the community. They have two kids and she is 8 months pregnant. Of course they went through the baby times a several years ago when life gets crazy but they were well on their way to getting normalcy (youngest hits 5 or 6) and she contracted an illness that set their relationship right to the back burner again. It took her a year or so to recover but she did (health-wise, not body-wise). I don't know these two that intimately but I saw his SMV shoot through the roof and hers plummeted from the first baby and never came up. She didn't seem to care either- she had him and she knew it (FAIL). The toll of kids and the illness (and laziness?) could not be overcome. I'm SURE he has been requesting she get it back together- tighten up, pay attention to him, show him affection, appreciation, and admiration- to no avail.

I did note the diverging SMV years ago, but as god is my witness, I never thought this guy would ever cheat on her. He is a committed family man, loved her dearly, and loves his kids to death. We are all in shock. That said, he is a natural Alpha. She did not respond to his requests or needs- no way this happens if she did. As a result of her neglect, she is now looking at the reality of losing the only man she ever loved, her kids will not have their dad in the home, she will have to watch him flourish with his high SMV- while hers is in the dumps. She will never be the same. Humiliation and pain await. Horrible for her but she made her choices- and he was not the priority.

So I am getting peppered from my wife about this situation and I'm struggling to know how to respond. I'm already getting the comfort tests, "this would never happen to us, right?" to which I am trying to respond in frame, provide comfort, but also slip in "as long as you're my XXX playmate, we're good". She's also going to want to break this all down with me at some point. My wife concedes that D failed to respond to her husbands needs, and I'm content to let the hamster do all the work here, but this seems so custom fit for MRP, it's hard to resist re-enorcing this lesson to her. So my questions are:

  1. Should I even bring this situation up- ever- or wait for her?
  2. Is there a way to lead her to see this situation as similar to ours (although on a much smaller scale)?
  3. How should I respond to these comfort tests? I want to maintain frame/amused mastery but this situation is very raw and I don't want to spill over to heartless dick territory.

This whole situation screams MRP. Textbook failure by D. I'm willing to bet a years salary if she thought it would come to this she would have been on his jock looking and acting like a porn star 24/7 (I'm pretty sure someone else is now).

My god, if there was only a way to get this situation in the consciousness of every women out there, the world would be a better place.
