Honestly from a brief glance of your post history youre full of melancholy. You don't really seem to ever get satisfaction and keep feeling the need to fill some emotional hole. Please do not use children to try and fill it. And I hardly ever advocate for this at all but think about getting a professional consultation about depression.

I could be wrong, but I'm also not going to invest more time that you seemed to when making this post.

Married. 2 boys. There are days when I wish my kids would leave me alone to rest/enjoy myself and then, usually micro-seconds later, I realise I am being a lazy, mentally absent father and I jump up to engage with them. Having kids has taught me to be less selfish, a lot more patient and reset my perception of what is important - not just in general but on a day to day basis of where I spend my time.

I could imagine nothing worse than being shackled to a bad wife (even if you divorce you will never be entirely rid of her) by having kids. Keep reading here, you will learn the warning signs. Even a good wife has her bad days, believe me, you want these to be as few as possible.

My day was sucking yesterday and it was hell @ work.

My son and daughter both walked in from the neighbors house and both hugged me, it's a feeling I wish everyone has When my oldest travels and comes home, (he is 6' 4") he picks me up while hugging me and then he does the same to his siblings

We eat dinner together as often as possible and I am involved with a lot in their school and other activities

First of there is not anything else in life as fufilling as having children. Whether you believe in God or not it is clear that the purpose of all life is to "continue". If u think about it all instinctive activity is directly of indirectly focus on that.

A woman and/or children can be a source of validation for a man. After checking your post history I would put the thoughts about children on the shelf for a while, and do some deep introspection about why you feel the way you do about life.

I'll tell you this. I love my daughter but I could I would had her 3 years later. Wife and I didn't have our time together which is showing it's effects.

I’ve always wanted children too. Mine are 6 and 9. There’s some really good times and some really sucky times, a lot of work, obligation and worry. The net happiness is probably negative but it adds a new purpose to life - something like purpose. I don’t regret having children, at all.

Make sure your shit is in order before having kids. The right mother, career on track, you’ve done the stuff you want to do. Everything gets much harder and your options shrink when having kids.

Nothing compares to the joy of having a son. It's deep and primal

For me it helped me appreciate how amazing my parents are, you grow up and Dad and Mom are simply dad and mom to you.

Having children, and when you become a father it puts it into perspective that your father is a man/ individual who has hopes and asperations just like you , and can help you appreciate everything they have done for you more.

The moment you 1st hold your newborn child you are changed. Every time I had to get up and feed my boy or change him, and I wanted to bitch and moan, it was like a mirror into my flaws showing me how selfish I was. It made me want to be a better man.
