If you were serious about divorcing your wife, you'd have met with your lawyer, had papers drawn up, gotten your financial ducks in a row, had a plan for the next few months at the very least, and come home to serve your wife with papers. It's not like this is a new issue, and it's not like you haven't addressed it with her before. And it's not like she doesn't know exactly what she's doing and whether it's something a good wife does. She is deliberately being the exact opposite of a good wife and has been for some time.

But you're not serious about divorce. You've only done a small fraction of the preparatory work, and you're using divorce as an ultimatum to try to force your wife to do something she doesn't want to do. You're trying to make a power play and using divorce as leverage, which is what women do.

And the reason you're trying to do it? Because she doesn't respect you. And how did she respond? With the truth: "I don't respect you, so I'm not losing much of a man. I wanted a divorce anyway."

Your wife isn't going to do shit about your ultimatum, because she knows that if you were a real man, you'd have already filed for divorce. Probably months ago before things got to this point. And instead, you're blustering and threatening like a bitchy little woman. She knows you ain't shit.

either you want a divorce from this woman or you do not. Its not a comfort test to say "its what you wanted". It's what she sees.

Here is how a buddy of mine initiated his divorce from his nightmare of a wife:

Hired a lawyer.
Had divorce papers drawn up that heavily favored him.
Contacted a realtor to set up getting his city house on the market.
Contacted HR to understand/get forms to change beneficiary on benefits.
Contacted bank(s) to setup separate checking/savings accounts.
Contacted Life Insurance agent to change beneficiary.
Found an affordable apartment in the suburbs, paid deposit first months rent.
Lined up buddies/family to help move his wife out of the home an into the apartment.
Lined up locksmith to have locks changed.

On a Friday, he came home early, told his wife he had enough, he is filling for divorce, gave her an hour to pack, his buddies showed up with a truck and moved all her shit out to her new apartment with her and her divorce papers along with it, as the truck was driving away, the locksmith was changing the locks, the realtor was putting a for sale sign in his front yard, his pay check was being deposited in his new account, he cracked open a beer, put some steaks on the grill and once his buddies came back from dropping her off, had a party.

Why this worked, she was in total shock. YMMV.

I would never ever recommend emoting and saying shit like "Either do X within Y time or I'm filing for divorce". I did that, but I was really lucky, and was with a wife who knew she was acting like a cunt. Problem was, she was acting like a cunt because she was married to me, who was also acting like a cunt.

Just like you're doing.

She responded with "something about divorce being what I wanted anyway" (comfort test?) I responded: "2 weeks". No other communication, went to work.

Just wanted to tell you, no, her response is not a comfort test, or a shit test, or any other kind of test. It's a "double dog dare". It's an assertion that she doesn't want to be married to you, she's daring you to file, and she's doing that because she's very confident you won't file and follow through.

Now that you've said this, you've put yourself in a position where you have no choice but to file. If you don't, she'll never respect you. Because she "double dog dared" you, and if you pussy out from a double dog dare, you've lost all respect with little if any hope of getting it back.
