TLDR: I feel like I settled into a comfortable yet lackluster marriage based out of fear of being alone and don’t know what to do.

I (26F) was recently married months ago and have been feeling restless, trapped, and otherwise not quite right ever since. On paper, my husband is great. He’s easy-going, simple, helpful, a hard worker, faithful, and loving. Although I was never completely head over heels for him, I thought that having butterflies and excitement were a pipe dream and I would be a fool to pass up such a good man. I also mistakenly thought that this would change after marriage.

I did not think it was possible to find a man that intrigued me, inspired me, and was attracted to me all at the same time and for whom I did the same. Really, it was fear. I assessed everything about the relationship with my head (checklist), not my heart, and have ended up feeling unfulfilled and unsatisfied ever since. I have never really felt a strong connection or a fire for this man so it’s hard thinking about what would “change” to help this. I don’t want to be one of those women who’s “unhaaapy” but I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t the case.

With that being said, I feel extremely guilty and selfish for being in this position and for having let things get this far. For having gone through with the wedding thinking things would change, and they didn’t. I also feel extremely guilty that this guy is a catch (perfect by the standards of a lot of women), and has done nothing to deserve this even though he’s good to me. Women of RPW, I come to you heeding your sage advice for this complicated dilemma. Where to go from here?
