Why is it that I need to feel grateful to a man for being a decent human being? For caring about a child that isn’t his biological son? What type of person wouldn’t watch this beautiful little boy grow up before their eyes and feel some love and affection? That’s not luck, it’s basic human instinct. Of course we love and protect the innocent.

Dat entitlement.

Same bitch would be making life hell if she was raising someone else's child. There's a reason there is a trope of the evil stepmother and not the evil stepfather.

[–]ISODAK 48 points49 points50 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Never thought of that before, but soooo true.

Mind is blown. Thanks for this one

That shit's ratchet. You go into a relationship with a woman with kids, you should be expected to accommodate for them as well

[–]chakravanti93 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hell no. I provide for mine only. I'll be a masculine figure for them but part of being masculine is not respecting poor decisions. Her children that aren't mine have to be the result of poor decisions if you are available now (and aren't tragically widowed). It doesn't reflect negatively on them because the best thing you can do is submit to a man who is willing to teach them that and they'll still get his ideological legacy and repute. You can't expect such a man to support them.

Single mom's are pretty much a nono to begin with but since we will all do as we will, my rule of thumb is just don't support the bastards unless it is what gets you laid. That is to say, don't bitch about those 50+ guys getting their slice of the single mom market that way. Just see it, shut the fuck up and move on.

[–]colombianguy27 points 11 years ago [recovered] (13 children) | Copy Link

Actually, now that I think about it, don't most fairy tales feature women as villains? That's kind of curious.

[–]FullRegalia 19 points20 points21 points 11 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Yes, even in the Bible it was Eve who doomed humanity for all eternity after biting into the forbidden fruit.

[–]FourNominalCents 19 points20 points21 points 11 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Not really the villain. More like the played. The devil is the ultimate dark triad bad boy.

[–]deepfriedcocaine 30 points31 points32 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Typical, blaming Satan for manipulating her.

[–]zendeavor 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

eve was a gullible bitch. does that make for a valid excuse? "i didn't know any better"

seems like i've heard that one before.

"i was just really drunk"

"i couldn't say no"

[–]Endorsed ContributorRedBigMan 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

True but theologically humans did not know any better.

I like to think that Eve ate the fruit and realized how screwed she was so she tricked Adam into eating it too so he'd be kicked out with her.

[–]Geryon667 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Really?

"But of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, If you take of it or put your hands on it, death will come to you."

I'd say that's pretty clear. Typical female hypoagency.

[–]zendeavor 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

if i go down i'm taking you with me. well, misery loves company.

[–]TannhauserOverture 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Satan put me into an apple-eating situation.

[–]1cover20 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

OK fine the devil is really to blame for all these bad things women do. But they claim to be adults, so it's their job to resist the evil influences. Right? They do say they "have agency".

[–]FourNominalCents 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

On a more theological note, he can't be everywhere at once. So the serious answer to that one is that he's harassing one single target on the face of the earth at a given time. When there were two people on earth, the odds weren't so good. Now, I suspect you'd have to be seriously important in order to attract that sort of attention. Most people who claim to have interacted in any fashion with the devil were either tempted by a minion, or even more often, their own fallen nature.

Also, "played" doesn't necessarily indicate a lack of agency. It indicates a lack of intelligence, awareness, or cleverness in this case.

I get that you may been attempting snarkasm, but it didn't really work for you.

[–]TRiPdonGame 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you read it carefully, the scripture suggests that Eve is not to blame for Original Sin.

"As in Adam all die..." (I Cor 15)

"The sins of the fathers..." (Lev 26, Num 14, etc.)

In my reading, God saw how dangerous Eve's unchecked woman-brain was, so he made her need to submit to a dominant husband (Genesis 3). I think God expects men to show better sense because that's how he designed our brains.

...that was way off tangent. Still like it.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But but but that was.... was... because Patriarchy, shitlord!

[–]Chrispy3690 20 points21 points22 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Oh god how untrue this is... "stepfather" is practically a code word for "molester"

[–]XXXmormon 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Basically, people tend to resent their step-parents no matter which gender.

[–]O3EAN 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have both, step mum is a 9/10 pain in the ass, step dad is a total bro. I think it also depends on your gender compared to the step parent.

in a single-parent household it's more common for kids to be abused by their mothers.

Are you seriously using this as a counter argument? "In houses where only the mother is raising the child, the stepfather is less likely to abuse the child."

And I love how you went on to prove my point, "The next most common abuser is the guys the mom is trying to make the stepfather."

I'm sure you'll want to differentiate between transient flings and "step-father material" but don't bother.

bluepill ... Know your facts, people.

lol I love you kids trying to wave your dicks around like you know something.

[–]1cover20 -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Never heard of that actually. Link?

[–]Chrispy3690 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Link to what? You want me to link to an article that says, "The term 'stepfather' is often used synonymously with the term 'molester' in certain social circles?"

Ok, well, let me google that for you:

Abstract: “The prevalence and seriousness of incestuous abuse: stepfathers vs. biological fathers.”

one out of approximately every six women who had a stepfather as a principal figure in her childhood years, was sexually abused by him. The comparable figures for biological fathers were 2% or one out of approximately 40 women

Who abuses children?

Findings from the ABS Personal Safety Survey (2005) indicated that for participants who had experienced sexual abuse before the age of 15, only 13.5% identified that the abuse came from their father/stepfather, 30.2% was perpetrated by other male relative, 16.9% by family friend, 15.6% by acquaintance/neighbour and 15.3% by other known person (ABS, 2005).

Child abuse and father figures: Which kind of families are safest to grow up in?

Compared to children living with married biological parents, those whose single parent had a live-in partner were at least 8 times more likely to be maltreated in one way or another. They were 10 mores more likely to experience abuse and 8 times more likely to experience neglect. … Maltreatment was most common in homes with a stepfather or boyfriend

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The trope is the evil stepmother and the stepfather that gets stepped on and nobody respects.

Well this guy cuckolded himself. Just a mistake. But as a man, his self esteem was under such attack that his natural urge to reject this deal was suppressed.

Too bad he never checked in here first.

All he'll ever see when he looks at that kid is the bronze medal he "won," when he could have gone for the gold.

[–]Endorsed ContributorRedBigMan 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Lets be fair... a lot of the cuckolded guys think by showing women how good they are with other people's kids that they'll get access to the womb and be able to have their own spawn.

Of course we all know how that works out for beta bux boy dont we?

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Of course we all know how that works out for beta bux boy dont we?

He'll probably have another kid with her somewhere down the road. If he's lucky, two.

Still means that a signficant share of his provisioning goes into a child that isn't his.

[–]1cover20 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She probably fucked around a while, then had this kid, now the kid is a few years old, then she married this guy ... by now she's probably past the best of her fertility, so one might be difficult, and two ... I doubt she would be willing to do more than one more at the very most.

She never mentioned trying to give this guy children.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True.

Entirely possible that she considers his desire to have children served by graciously allowing him to help raising hers - at least I wouldn't be surprised at all if that totally was her train of thought, judging from her tone in that article.

[–]Endorsed ContributorRedBigMan 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah and if he's really lucky at least one of them will be his.

[–]1cover20 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, no mention yet of her even trying to give him a single child yet.

She considered dating too much of a hassle (bullshit, she pulled out all the stops, her maternal instinct took over) so I guess "going through" more pregnancies is way too much to ask of a woman who has been through so much.

anybody else just despise the term "Decent Human Being" What the fuck does that even mean, people give humans too much credit were sick animals at our core IE the Huns, French Revolution, Midevil Torture or pretty much any civilization in history.

When applied to men, it means a beta doormat.

[–]thredditsowaway 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This pushes so many of my buttons it just HAS TO BE a Red Pill-aware troll. There's no other explanation.

Even the tumblrinas in the comments are calling her out.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dat entitlement.

Best comment regarding that article:

Well, isn't this some crap? I'm a single mom who would love to get married to a wonderful man some day. If people congratulated me on my great catch, I would say "Thanks, yes, we are blessed." A good man that is still single is rare, and one that will truly love your child is rarer still. If she can't appreciate him and get over her entitled superior attitude, she may be surprised one day when he's gone. Sure, women deserve to be loved, but he deserves respect and appreciation for being a good father to her kid. Acknowledge that he is the man he is by choice, and stop taking him for granted. Sheesh!

[–]Lcoolie 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feel some love and affection by paying and being responsible for the fucker for another 10 years. Sounds miserable to me.

[–]RedEcstasy 55 points56 points57 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Why is it that I need to feel grateful to a man for being a decent human being? For caring about a child that isn’t his biological son? What type of person wouldn’t watch this beautiful little boy grow up before their eyes and feel some love and affection? That’s not luck, it’s basic human instinct. Of course we love and protect the innocent.

Note how she implies that a man who isn't willing to raise her kid isn't a decent human being. I doubt she would care about any of the thousands of kids who will die this year, yet any person who doesn't care about her boy is an instant shitlord.

Yes, she should be grateful that she found a man desperate enough to look past her mistakes.

[–]nofaprecommender 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

No, she implies a man who she is dating who isn't willing to raise her child isn't a decent human being. And wtf kind of dude gets in an LTR with a single mom and expects to not raise the kid? She's not saying the TRP circle jerk is supposed to come to her aid and do it.

[–]rpkarma 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No one should go and do it if she thinks she is entitled to it, which she does. The entire post is a giant whine and frankly she should shut up and be grateful that she found someone beta enough to raise her kid and pay for their shit.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

No, she says she's sick of being expected to be grateful for it - which, quite frankly, she should be.

See it like this: For the vast majority of men, being a single mom takes away a large chunk of your attractiveness (or SMV). This means that everything else being equal, these men would prefer a woman without kids over the same woman with kids. A women with kids has to lower her expectations when it comes to men; because men who could get a childless woman of her quality would of course pick that one over her. To quote a comment from Why women lose the dating game:

My market value dropped (40s, average looking, divorced, kids). For a few years I tried to find a new man but was treated very disrespectfully. I decided I needed to let that part of my life go. So I no longer date, in fact I actively avoid it. The acceptance is life changing and I am so much happier. You have to work through the process of realising you're not worth anything to men and it is not easy. I was always with someone and only ever wanted Mr Average because that's what I was too. But now I am considered below average by men and I am just not prepared to go lower than that.

So, what does this mean for her?

Either she has gotten a man who truly is as awesome as she writes but nevertheless wifed her up despite her additional baggage - and in that case, she should truly consider herself lucky and thank God on her knees that she got that chance despite the unforgiving realities on the dating market where another man's kid is a huge burden for a woman.

OR she is just rationalizing, convincing herself to feel happy with her life and her uber-awesome husbandTM , but deep down knows that she just got a deal that was appropriate to her lowered SMV; and her tirade about him being "just a decent human being" is hamstering of the fact that she subconsciously holds the opinion that she shouldn't have to be grateful because he got a deal with her that is better than he would have gotten otherwise. She basically said it at the end - "It’s not just my son and me who are blessed. Our whole family is. My husband included."

I go for option#2.

[–]1cover20 -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Indeed, the very fact that he agreed to raise the child as his own rather than having his own real children means she despises him. She is glad for the support but she's not sexually attracted to that.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't go that far to say that she despises him because he accepts her child; but rather that she (subconsciously) resents him because he probably is the best she could get given her circumstances.

[–]2Overkillengine 39 points40 points41 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Translation: "I'm tired of being reminded I can't slack in any other areas because I've already got something in the minus column of my total value, even though that is the result of MY choices, not his."

[–]Endorsed ContributorUrsusG 53 points54 points55 points 11 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

This is an extension of Briffault's law, and applies universally to all people, not just women: no-one likes to stay indebted or grateful too long.

The woman's reasoning is as follows: if he married me knowing I'm a single mother, I guess I was valuable enough to him to commit.

She is actually quite right in her reasoning.

[–]TRP VanguardCyralea 36 points37 points38 points 11 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

One could argue that the man didn't recognize his own value, thus affecting his perception of hers.

[–]1lucifa 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The problem is men's worth is almost a function of what they perceive their worth to be. Confidence is everything, even if you have good looks and wealth.

[–]1cover20 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. This ability to change fortune by effort is what makes it a real shame if a man settles for raising someone else's child.

But then nobody would be their father figure! True, too bad.

[–]thrway1312 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's a vicious cycle of (collectively) degraded male SMV at the cost of artificially inflated female SMV. From the outside looking in it's a disaster -- the roles are completely flipped; I'm glad to not be a clown in this circus anymore.

[–]XXXmormon 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My drummer is a classic case if this. He's quick, funny, sober, smart, and a phenomenal drummer, but he has been dating this chubby, helpless, child of a woman who has zero hobbies, constantly tries to shit test him into being more of a man, to make her feel better about herself. And has him by the balls in regards to what he does with his free time.

He only complains about her, but he has stuck with her for 4 years. The dude even talks with glimpses of reality, saying he might regret not seeing what kind of woman he could be with. Sex with this girl is never anything but missionary with the lights off and would rather jack off than fuck her.

But he has low self esteem and this is what he thinks he deserves.

I don't think he's doing anybody a favor by staying in a LTR with her. I straight up told him he needs to drop her ass so she will grow up, and see other people, but he believes in commitment and "making it work."

[–]1cover20 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I thought people in bands got lots of chances at pussy including pretty desirable stuff.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

fucking exactly: women know their value because they can sit back and let the men come to them. There are plenty of high value men that never know their true value because they don't put themselves out there.

[–]otiswild 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or, that his value is such that all he could get was a single mom, and now she's bristling at it?

[–]Endorsed ContributorUrsusG 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, this is what I meant. The man reduced his value by taking her in. She adjusted her perception of him accordingly.

Any entitlement / gratitude issues that follow from this are ultimately his fault.

[–]RedPillington 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She is actually quite right in her reasoning.

no. people say:

"you're so lucky to have found a good man"

and she thinks:

"no, he's not great, he's simply decent. I'm the catch. my son is the catch."

what a fucking cunt. just accept the compliment that people are paying you. since when did "you're lucky to have found someone great" stop being a positive comment?

she thinks she deserves anything he brings to the table because she is such a fucking catch. there is no luck involved, because she is such a fucking catch. for christ's sake. if she's so sure of her self-worth, she should stop letting random people "make" her feel bad.

[–]DexterousRichard 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. She says "I shouldn't have to be grateful."

What she leaves out is the uncomfortable bit. What is left when there is no more gratitude? I'll tell you: taking him for granted. That's all there could be. Basically, discounting the value of what he does.

Why does she want to do that? Because otherwise she has to face the fact that someone is giving value that she should be grateful for, and that she is not the greatest catch in the universe. Both of these facts cannot be admitted to her brain or she will feel worse about herself.

Humility is dead among women. (humility is a way to feel good about yourself while accepting your inferioriority.)

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, perhaps she is a catch (or at least her perception of her own SMV makes her think that).

To quote myself from a comment above:

Either she has gotten a man who truly is as awesome as she writes but nevertheless wifed her up despite her additional baggage - and in that case, she should truly consider herself lucky and thank God on her knees that she got that chance despite the unforgiving realities on the dating market where another man's kid is a huge burden for a woman.

She basically said it at the end - "It’s not just my son and me who are blessed. Our whole family is. My husband included."

I go for option#2.

[–]MastaBlasta925 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would argue that she should be eternally grateful, because not many men would want to take that on. Either they would want their own kids or not want kids at all, and both would be hard to deal with. She doesn't need to be feel indebted to him or even direct her gratitude towards him, but I know I would be grateful for my situation if I met a woman who met my needs including the not-so-convenient ones.

Not really. This really has nothing to do with relative worths between sexual partners. The fact is that being a single parent is a dealbreaker for a lot of people, no matter how amazing that person may be.

It should also be noted that her husband is not the one making her feel this way but the other people in her life. I don't think she's complaining about being indebted or being grateful that she found someone. I think she's complaining about the stigma of the single parent when it comes to dating.

The fact is that being a single parent is a dealbreaker for a lot of people, no matter how amazing that person may be.

Count me to them.

If I can get a woman with a certain overall attractiveness, then I should be able to get her without children - I have made some dumb decisions in the past because I was in love and am not in the mood to add more to them.

However, if there is a woman who is so awesome that I'd consider dating her even with the baggage, I'd have to evaluate my perspective: Because odds are that she may perceive herself to be out of my league, but only considers me because she has to lower her expectations because of her baggage, then I don't think it would be a good idea to wife her up because she would resent me for it. So no.

Briffault's law, and applies universally to all people, not just women

The thing is, men (or rational women) wouldn't stay like that for long. They'd work their ass of to stop being dependant and being an assisted.

Well, statistically, she still will end up doing exactly that. Overall divorce rates are around 55%, but when you break it down by first marriage, second marriage, etc, second marriage divorce rates are up around 70%.

Once women get the taste of cash and prizes from one divorce, the allure becomes too tempting to not do it again.

What happening is other single mothers are saying she is lucky to find a man to take care of her and her child without complaint.

If I as a man found a woman to take care of me and my child you best believe people would say I'm lucky.

If the husband has to work to support a child that is not his for a long period of time , than she should be grateful for a long period of time.

Her only job is to be grateful which she can't even do, you sound pretty blue pill, "Husband going to work is not a big deal its his job"

Well, and there's this comment:

What you call "misogyny" is what many men are starting to clue into as "observable truth". It's called the Red Pill, and it's addictive. Oh, and your attempts to shame men for actually trying to have a voice? Classic.

I've dated and had a fiancée who was a single mom for two years. Treated the kid like a son.

My brother married a single mom. Treated her daughter like she was his.

Had a friend who dated a single mom. Treated all three of her daughters and sons like his.

None of the outcomes were good. I wonder why.

She is implying that empathy is something that everyone should have. Everyone has it anyway to some extends, what she forgot to think is that peoples KNOW that if she's weak, it's because she deserves it. Think about it that way, some peoples when they see a bum, think they deserve to be there, and helping them would be a waste of time/effort/money since they are too weak for society. This is the case. The whole help the poor little womyn act isn't about how evil male is (even tho she wants to pretend it's because of that) it's about how rational and non-conflictual male are.

Why is it that I need to feel grateful to a man for being a decent human being? For caring about a child that isn’t his biological son?

Leaving aside the stench of entitlement this woman's writing exudes - plenty of others have pointed that out - this is a perfect example of working backwards from a self-centered emotional conclusion and sneakily establishing false principles using weak, generic language to justify it. The key phrases are "a decent human being" and "caring about". A neutral third party would replace those with "selfless" and "committing all of his resources to providing for", respectively.

It's very obvious to everyone what she's doing overall, but I think it's equally important to call out the specific tactics and be on guard for them, especially in an LTR. When you're arguing with a woman, she will do this constantly, and if you let it slide either because you miss it or because you're giving her the benefit of the doubt, you're leaving yourself open to a lot of traps.

Always remember: masculine communication uses reason to construct a consistent model of objective reality and test it against others; feminine communication uses reason to support a dynamic now-state of emotional fantasy and gain validation for it.

Then why doesn't she forget about those ones who expect that feeling from her?

"Because in that case she would have to forget about everyone, she would have to force herself to ostracism, and she could not survive that way"

Well, if she wants others to help her survive (and if she wants it freely and by her own decision), then she'll have to accept those other people's implicit rule that she has to feel grateful to her husband for marrying her.

If she doesn't want to accept that rule, then she should forget about those other people, and she should try to survive on her own; this way, she won't have to put up with that rule.

I could potentially see myself witht the right woman if she already had a kid, but with the understanding that we were going to have our own. I could raise a kid that wasnt mine. I wouldnt love them any less or play favourites with my own. BUT! the prospect of dating a single Mom with a daughter is a lot more appealing than dating a single mom with a son. The whole single mom/son dynamic of us against the world is a lot more daunting.

I lived with it with my Mom and half brother who were a tight little unit that had been through tough times together. That bond is a strong. To the point that there wasnt really room for me in that unit, let alone a new guy. My brother and dad didnt get along and thats what prevented me from having the married mom and dad life. I just dont see that happening to as large extent with a single mom and a girl.

Just something I think about.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Due to her children, she got a partner with an SMV that's above hers, and everyone is commenting on that. What her entourage is basically saying is "your guy is one in a million, probably a lot better than you deserve (especially with that baggage), and certainly better than you could realistically expect".

An 11 out of 10 would most certainly above your SMV, and the reactions would be comparable.

[–]SJbored 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I feel like that is reaching. Being a single mother is, for a lot of people, a negative trait. Just because you get an 11/10, doesnt automatically mean you arent also an 11/10. I think I understand what the person was trying to say, but the example doesnt work.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well, yes it does - even if you're an overall pretty awesome guy (8/10), marrying the objectively best woman in the world (11/10) would be severely playing above your league. Don't forget that such a Helen of Troy-like woman could probably bag any man she wanted to.

[–]SJbored 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think you are having a confidence issue. Why are you assuming that no man could even be a 9/10, yet the best women can be an 11? Putting women on a pedestal is no way to get better. That is the main reason this example fails. You are forcing a negative trait on to a man for, literally, no reason. There are men out there who seem perfect to women too.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, I was being realistic. Even "quality men" aren't necessarily 9s or 10s - that's why I said "overall pretty awesome" and not "incredibly awesome" (I consider a woman that's an overall 8 - looks, personality etc. - awesome as well, but that doesn't mean she is the best there is).

And assuming someone is a quality man (with a 8/10 or 9/10 rating), this still means that a theoretical 11/10 will be definitely out of his league.

Her husband isn't a saint. He's weak. He settled for an imitation of the real thing and she hasn't even given him any children of his own.

She's lucky to have found someone willing to sacrifice their own family to give hers money and a "father figure".

That doesn't mean she's trash. She never explained why she left the boy's father so we don't know that. But given the percentages and what comes across in her attitude, I'd say it's highly likely.

Aaaand here are the gems (usually no RP-lingo) from the comments who call her out on her selfishnes..

i know a girl that used to date a dude that had a kid. after my friend and the dude split, she used to still pick up some other womans baby every other weekend and help the guy who she wasnt even with by picking her up after school.

firstly this isnt her responsibility. she is putting in selfless effort. second trying to find someone like that is very rare. this guy is a lucky guy to have an ex girlfriend help him with his kid. this is an admirable trait in anyone. it demonstrates selflessness and caring.

and the same goes for you. if you feel like you and your son are a package deal, fine. if you feel like someone should be happy with both of you, thats good. but the fact is whether someone SHOULD and whether someone will are two different things. and you lucky girl, you found someone who WILL, and who genuinely likes it. its great. just be equally awesome to your husband when he needs it.

you dont have to kiss his feet for it. and you dont owe anybody else anything. but keep in mind always that even though he likes doing it, he doesnt have to. you are a lucky girl, living the dream, one that most single mothers are wishing they could find. you got a second chance with a man and your child isnt baggage to him. dont blow it getting pissy. your fortunate situation is extremely EXTREMELY uncommon.

Don't be naive. I want children and I am a strong man (literally). I would never marry a woman with a child without the stipulation that WE have OUR own child. Her son is not my biological child. Yes he is a human being and that goes without saying, nobody says we shouldn't care about another man's child. The issue is her belief that she shouldn't be grateful for this man when others know the score and she doesn't seem too.

I agree with you, however how many "good" women are out there? I judge many by decisions they have made. How did you end up being a single mother? What happen to birth control? What happen to get married before having children? What I see most of the time is this: Women looking for not a provider but an exciting figure that will sweep them off their feet. As Allison Armstrong has said the treatment that women get in romance novels and Hollywood movies is alien to the average woman, that they car constantly in search of... That very thing they watch or read about it. Men recognize this and keep telling women its UNREALISTIC but society as a whole is saying, that's not true, you only need to find a rich man that can fly you to any location on earth in his private jet so you can have lunch on the French Rivera or dinner at the Igloo Hotel in Sweden. The reality is families have a very average existence but popular culture has told women they should demand more. The movie "Date Night" comes to mind. Men are largely doing there part, not all men of course but intelligent men are, they are avoiding the bad decision makers, you know the women with two or three children and never married...

Sheesh!

As a step father myself, it really stings to read an article like this. Being a step parent is infinitely harder than being a biological parent. Emotional abuse, isolation, rejection, incredible lifestyle changes with little award, etc. You can even add another layer, what if the biological parent is still involved yet the spouse of the step parent has full custody? That means the step parent gets to enjoy years of ugliness from the step child because "they aren't the real parent" - despite doing ALL of the work as a real parent.

It's very simple - if you bring a child into this world and decide to date, it WILL be unequal to the person you are with. And therefore the biological parent needs to appreciate the unique struggles of the step parent. What is concerning about the article is that the author does not believe there are unique struggles that a step parent goes through, and that "by being with her" makes up for any hard ship. This is simple ignorance.

As someone who turned down being a step-parent more than once, I feel for you! One of the women was a window (her husband died in an accident) and had a two year old. She was a good christian lady from a traditional culture, early 20s and not bad looking at all. She and the church pushed me to marry her in subtle and not so subtle ways. Her boy was very precious and I felt bad for them, but not enough to sign up to be his dad. The other was my then neighbor after getting my first real job in the big city. She had a kid and kicked out his thug daddy for repeatably cheating. She wanted a relationship seeing that I was a nice guy (naive, vulnerable, young guy who is not getting much poon) that has a future and would be a good provider. The woman was from a working class background and quite attractive in her own way. She found out from a older lady neighbor that I was looking to find a good girl to settle down with and was not interested in the pumping and dumping that is common among young urbanites. She figured she had an easy catch and tried to get me to commit... After enjoying myself for a while with a woman who knew how to pull out all the stops in the bedroom, I moved out when she started to get nasty because I would not propose. Also, I found that she was still screwing the baby daddy on the side. I may have looked naive, but I was no sucker.

Hey, how about we hear stories from single women about how lucky they are to have found single dads caring full time for their brood of children. How happy the women are to be looking after, and being mum to another woman's kids. How much the women love these kids by another woman and how she is always be happy to play second fiddle to her husband since his kids come first.

She should consider herself lucky. No man getting into dating ever goes "Man! I really want to date a single mom". No man. Period. The baggage a single mother carries with her whether it's the bad boy who knocked her up and left her who wants to come back to hit it again or better yet you being involved in a instant family and lord knows co-habitating with a Single mom if you aren't the father leads to child support once you split.

Guys always remember. Your freedom is important..but your financial and emotional freedom from women is the most important overall.

I hear guys, all the time, say how lucky they are that "they met a girl like her". Guys routinely worship the hides off women for commiting far less and sacrificing far less than this guy did.

Truth is: she IS lucky. Extremely lucky. She is luckier than her partner. She had baggage. Yes, baggage. He did not. He accepted her baggage and thus she should feel grateful for that, and she should feel "lucky".

She's not grateful, and she doesn't feel lucky. Grateful women who feel lucky DO NOT write articles like this.

Reading this article, I can tell that this woman was never physically, intellectually, sexually or romantically attracted to this man. She settled down with him because he was financially stable, nice, and willing to raise her kid. There was never any passion there.

Gawd, I hope I never end up like that. I'd rather die than end up with a kind, stable old man who does nothing for me on a gut level.

I guess those are the sacrifices you have to make as a single mom? Good thing I'm not packing kids, then.

First world problems. Geez.

That's huge for a guy to take on another man's child. Most men with options when confronted with a woman with a kid run away as fast as they can and this guy married you and you are complaining about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lady you define entitlement and narcissistism. So to recap:

  • You got knocked up on the cock caroseul by an alpha stud.
  • A nice guy beta wifes you up.
  • You are complaining that you he gets some recognition for taking on a role that most men have nightmares about because it steals from your glory that you are awesome and basically he should be grateful. I really thinks that's what's at play here. In the back of your mind, you still know the days of hot studs and you're thinking to yourself this dude should be grateful I'm with him. I believe that's the root.

Can I ask a favour? Please don't divorce him later on. I think that's what's going to happen and he doesn't deserve it.

I don't think the woman sounds bitter. She knows her man is wonderful. She knows she is blessed. It would get old hearing how lucky she is. I would get sick of it after some time. The dude decided to take on someone else's baby, and hasn't made it an issue.

I see her point.

No, what she's hearing is probably something along the lines of "your guy is one in a million, probably a lot better than you deserve (especially with that baggage), and certainly better than you could realistically expect".

Of course she doesn't like it, but that doesn't mean her social circle isn't right.
