The thing about men as a whole is there usually speaking are a ton of "good" guys out there. They legitimately do want to work hard, have a woman who loves them, be a good friend and help you, etc. The problem is that, like OP is saying, they've been told that just working hard will get them what they want when in reality its just not the case. The problem is that there is a fine line between being seen as a douche or ass-kisser and properly networking and having good respect from others

There’s some truth to this especially in tech. Was drinking with managers last week (all females) and they made it pretty clear that appearance while not a major factor, plays apart, making it known they like working in an environment with attractive people who also know how to bullshit and be vocal.

I cannot over emphasize the relevance of this post. I built a career out of thin air and experienced much that people around me didn’t. Witnessed many colleagues in the middle of raising their young ones, going back to school because their careers were stalled.

I worked, harder on my personality, speaking/presentation skills, communications, than any area of my skill sets next to my technical knowledge. It paid off. I took advantage of every opportunity around me and was able to move far beyond my expectations.

All of this, in an effort to transform from an introvert to an extrovert and it worked. I found many mentors along the way and it was a hell of a journey.

The SUPERSTARS are there because they put it all on the line, swallow their fear and move forward. They raise their hands for every opportunity and when they fall flat on their faces get back up and do it again.

Damn fine post HappyScribe. Damn fine. These are the nuggets that make RedPill worthy of reading. For all the guy’s hyper focused on getting some? Focus on your life. Women will line up because most people simply DON”T.

My biggest challenge in the last ten years, especially five, ready to settle down again (yeah don’t go there, 54, I’ve had my fun) is finding a woman who is worthy of my attention.

Big picture, build a life you can be proud of whether you are alone or surrounded by a harem and an entourage. At the end of the day, the substance you put into your existence will outlast any of the above.

You have to make your wants and needs a priority. You have to be ASSERTIVE. Don't sit back, work hard, be agreeable and expect it all to come.

It"s not Redpill, it's common sense. Don't assume people know what you want. TELL THEM.

Otherwise they will assume you're all good and happy.

Doing that can be hard for some. It risks rejection, failure, being vulnerable.

It's why you build value, display that value and make your wants and needs known.

I had a reminder recently with my boss. She was like 'wherr do you want to be?'.

At first, I was thinking 'wherr the fuck do you think? The top'.

I realised that she didn't KNOW this. I was clear in my job interview, and with upper management when I spoke to them. But I can't rely on Chinese whispers and assume what I want is passed on.

So what did I do? Wrote a 12 page report on various theory and models where I work, and included a page mission statement about where I want to be, and how I plan to get there.

Show willingness, show assertiveness, then back it the fuck up.

This is good advice but I find it hard to follow because the louder you are, the more you are a target for competitors and for more work from your bosses. I'm not a huge guy and I don't want more work. Any further advice?

The Greek word used for meek is "praus" which is not interpenetrated properly.

This difficult-to-translate root (pra-) means more than "meek." Biblical meekness is not weakness but rather refers to exercising God's strength under His control – i.e. demonstrating power without undue harshness.

If you believe all the feminist than yes, its being a weakling. If you believe what God says, its strength bought under control.

Other writers have pointed out that the Greek word "praus" (πραεῖς) was used to define a horse trained for battle. Wild stallions were brought down from the mountains and broken for riding. In the post-modern world, appearance and oppinion is everything, but the real world still exists and it values hard workers and results, hell its why a guy like Trump can get elected and people somehow feel like some sort of wrong has been righted. We're alive, so get to living. Or, I guess, if you're like me and just don't really care enough about such things, don't bother and let life carry you along. Actually, "the meek shall inherit the Earth" is commonly misunderstood. At the time the Bible was written, "meek" meant "controlled strength". Not throwing it around, but using it when and where it is best suited.

Great advice.. In my experience (I work in tech), I see lot of "loud talkers" making their way up. But they get stalled pretty quick. What I have seen is that if someone has the technical knowledge and is able to project himself they grow a lot faster. There are lot of people who are good with technical knowledge but are always in the background. These guys don't get anything. So to go from 5.5 to 7.5 you need to loud talk even if its plain bullshit and to go from 5.5 to 9.5 you need to be knowledgeable and able to loud talk while keeping bullshitting to minimum.

Being knowledgeable is to work hard and understand. You do this in the background. You put in the work, take up challenging work and learn things. Personally for me , I got this. I have been working for sometime in the same team and I know good amount of relevant details.

Being a good speaker takes some time where you are able to convey your thoughts in a confident manner. This is where I`m struggling but making progress by tracking and observing myself during interactions. Observing others during interactions. One easy way is to see how other people interact and try to mimic them.

Another thing that is essential in addition to the above is to not be afraid to fail or make comments that are incorrect. Of course you dont want to get simple things incorrect which will do more harm.

I just saw good ole Jordan Peterson talking about how "meek" means those who know how to use their swords but choose to keep them sheathed most of the time unless they determine that it is absolutely necessary to use them.
