This is going to be unpopular, but I figure I'll give it a go.

Today, kids are maturing later and later in life. It’s not unusual for people in their mid-20’s+ to be living with their parents. We are also seeing an all-time low in marriage and child-birth rates. Less than a century ago, most people were married and moved out before they were 21.

This issue would probably be solved if parents warned their children that they will have to financially support themselves when they start dating and having sex. That means telling them they won’t pay their car payments, college tuition, phone bills, and also getting them prepared to move into their own place when they can find a job to pay rent. Since the primary objective of sex is to have children, it makes sense for parents to not want to encourage it and end up with a grandchild they will have to financially support. Even with birth control, you can never be sure that your child will use these techniques or that they will work.

For some kids, this will lead to them becoming responsible at an early age because they want to satisfy their sex drive or start families early. This is the naturalistic tendency of all mammals that leave their original groups they were born into after puberty to search for a mate. Boys will have more of a reason to become self-sufficient and girls will have a good reason to choose partners who can support them at an early age. For other kids, they can remain abstinent and focus solely on their education and careers with financial help from their parents. Relationships and sex often get in the way of these future-oriented goals, so it makes sense to not engage in them until you can support yourself.

I believe all of the problems between men and women can easily be fixed with better parenting and teaching your children that actions have consequences. I’m not saying parents should tell their children sex is bad or shame them for having it. I’m simply saying parents need to get better at creating boundaries and then the kids can decide if crossing those boundaries are worth it or not.
