It is often said that the carrot of sex for drives societal progress. But I'd argue that it doesn't. It may drive status climbing but status climbing has little to do with the betterment of society. It may lead to rent seeking on wall street, or becoming a rock star, or oppressing other people. But true progress requires an innate appreciation of a task, it'll be hard to be a scientist or computer programmer if you don't somewhat enjoy what you do.

True advancement is driven by people who enjoy what they're doing. You have to enjoy the process not the result.

Withholding sex from men may motivate them in more vanilla jobs which they can suffer though.
